Two basic bank accounts?

Hello,
I currently have a basic bank account (with the Halifax) and was wondering if it was possible to have a second basic account (I thought a Co-op cashminder)? Or if they'd reject it because I already have one with someone else?
I get the impression it's a service a lot of banks begrudge giving in the first place.
The second account was primarily to sell items on auction websites with having found a lot of bits and bobs after clearing the loft recently but I've heard horror stories of Paypal taking money suddenly and unexpectedly if something goes wrong with the sale so I didn't want to link my main everyday account.
Is it possible or am I likely to be rejected?

I think PP can take money only if you have a DD set up (and/or a card linked?). If you are selling, not buying, simply cancel the DD and unregister the card.0

What / who gives you that impression?
You shouldn't have a problem applying for a second account. It would be the normal thing to do if you wanted, for example, switch your account.0 -
Thanks for the quick reply!
I realise there are ways around it, it's just for peace of mind really. Plus, this every website suggests opening account purely for online selling because it's neater and you can see what's selling. It's just a preference to keep it separate I think.0 -
I have one with Barclays, really easy to open all done online no problems at all...
Perhaps try them?
Good luck0
