Jammed suitcase combination

Help - I have a pair of Samsonite Flyte suitacases which have always has the same comination lock on them. However, recently when I went to open them 1 would not respond to the combination. We must have inadvertently flicked the button and changed the lock without realising and so it wont open. It has not been used since we went on holiday last September. Does anyone have any suggestion about opening it (without breaking the lock) before I take it to where we bought them. We have had them about 5-6 years (can't remember exactly when they were bought, but we bought them in Debenhams in a sale, and they are a bright banana yellow). Does anyone know a) if the lock is broken can it be replaced or b) can the lock be sprung to allow us to reset the combination
Thanks
Thanks

Set the combination to the one you used when it worked. Now move the digits one at a time 1 number up then retry then 1 number down from the original position (if it does not work return to original position). Do this on all the digits if still no go try 2 numbers up and down. Hope this makes sense to you normally the combination is never far out from the original position.0

Its often possible to pick combi locks by watching the rings - as you pull the release button watch the rings. If the furthest one twitches slightly, its locked so move it round until it stays still when you pull the release. At this point the next in line should twitch - repeat with that one and so on until they are all open. (This was a well known weakness with bike combi locks so maybe Samsonite build theirs better and it won't work - worth a look tho!)Adventure before Dementia!0

Hello denise_h
I have Samsonite cases with combination locks. I needed a replacement combination lock and had excellent after sales service from Samsonite.
Before you attempt to break the lock (if the suggestions about trying different numbers don't work;) ), ring Samsonite for advice. They might have a suggestion on how to open the lock without breaking it.;)
If I'm too late and you've already broken the lock. Ring Samsonite and ask them nicely for a replacement combination lock.
They sent me a combination lock free of charge.:T
You can call them on the free phone number 0800 898201.

Thanks everyone - I will try to open the lock first (at work at the moment tho) and then try Nile's option and contact Samsonite0

If all the above does not work then if it is a 3 digit code then you will have to from 000 to 999 in order and after every change test to see if it will open the suitcase. I had a similar problem on my recent trip to spain where it changed code twice by itself somehow. I sat there and checkded very possible combination. Takes time and is frustrating but it will open it. I think the humble pad lock is probably the safest and if you lose it then at least you can cut the thing.0

I would like to thank all those who tried to help, especially Nile. I would like to report that my husband managed to get the case open (with the help of a screwdriver) and so was able to remove the lock. He tried to reset the lock, but it was faulty so he contacted Samsonite today who are sending out a replacement lock free-of-charge. Not bad - free 0800 telephone number and free replacement lock. Apparently there is a 12 digit code behind the fabric covering of the hinge which lets them know exactly which lock to send.0
