Parking at Rochdale FC

Hi all,

I am going to Rochdale v Stoke tonight. I work as a journalist. The website says there are a lot of Residents parking only around Spotland and wonder if anyone could give me a suggestion of where to park. Is there any (fairly safe) street parking near to the stadium?

Any help much appreciated,

Andy

    Hi Andy
I too am going on the train, but my friends reckon the best way is to park about a mile away from the ground and walk in. Not much help I know, but there we go.

We were there in the FA Cup in 2010 and I parked on the street about five minutes from the ground.

It is a shame that it doesn't give you a great deal of info about parking for many grounds.

"street parking" - doesn't really help

Street parking means just that, what else do you think it means? They even provide a post code for the ground so you can look on google maps to find your street of choice.

If I am going to a ground I would like to know more than "street parking"

How close might that parking be?
Are there any restrictions I should be aware of?

If this information was available it might help fans in determining whether to take a car.

I've looked at Rochdale and what it actually says is

"Car Parking at the ground is now for permit holders only, so it is a case of finding some street parking. However this may be a bit of a distance from the ground as there is a "residents only" parking scheme in operation in streets around Spotland. So if not careful you could end with a parking ticket for your trouble, so check first to see if there are street parking restriction signs, before deciding to park up."

So that tells me that there are no car parks close by and that street parking nearest the grounds are likely to have parking restrictions so check and expect a walk to the ground. I find that useful information.

What else can it say, park outside no 21 Acacia Avenue?

There is quite a bit of information indeed for Rochdale however what I wrote earlier was "It is a shame that it doesn't give you a great deal of info about parking for many grounds."

    Which is true.

If you say it's true then it must be.....

I've used that site for the 66 away grounds I've visited and not had any issues at all. I don't expect to be spoon fed information though. I use the information given and take it from there. Other people clearly need to have their hand held and told exactly where to park. I can't help but think that a supporters coach might be a better option for them.

Anyway, the link I have provided supplies useful information to the football ground in question so other than hope the OP enjoys their trip my interest in this thread has now ceased.
