Ring and speak to customer services at Head Office and tell them you had problems using the website and you are very annoyed that you could not have got at lower price.
I have done this with Wickes and they agreed to honor the lower price as a goodwill gesture20 plus years as a mortgage adviser for Halifax (have now retired), and I have pretty much seen it all....:D0 -
Buy a 2nd hand one from an auction or antique shop, then buy the chairs from a different location.Breast Cancer Now 100 miles October 2022 100 / 100miles

We have an oak table, but as it is used every day it has a felt mat and cover on it anyway.
However we also have matching smaller side tables which have no cover. The oak has a lacquer finish and just needs a wipe over, anything spilt just wipes off.
British Furniture Manufacturers website is worth a look, rather than buying at a shed from a company who spend huge amounts of cash on TV adverts rather than decent quality products.0 -
I'm biased as it's what I do for a living but I agree with other poster who suggests looking at custom made, most of the time I can beat prices of big outlets and if I can't I can guarantee it will be of better build quality.
A lacquered finish is very hardy, watch out again at the bigger outlets though as I've seen quite a few where a year or so down the line, the finish has worn off in areas , down to them not really building up a decent finish and just spraying on a coat or two.0 -

Good luck with your search.

We have an oak table, one of the chunky, rustic style ones. It's waxed as I'm not a fan of shiney finishes. It is in constant use and I use a damp cloth to wipe it and it still looks great after 8 years.
I also have oiled furniture and it's very easy to maintain.0
