Groupon holiday scam - how to successfully get refund?

  • Just received the following email from CSH out of the blue:
    "Hi , XXXX

    Thank you for booking the holiday with Clear Sky Holidays
    Your booking Reference number is XXXXXX
    your flight booked with Ryanair XXXXXX ( for online check in call to our customer care department at 02085118885 before 7 days of your traveling )
    Accommodation and other vouchers will be sent to you
    within 48 hours
    If we can be any further assistance please don't hesitate to contact us on 02085118885
    where our customer care agents will happy to help you
    I wish you A Great Holiday

    Richard"

    ...How can anyone take this seriously?! It's one step away from being a Nigerian prince email.

    And I really, really hope they have personally booked that flight because not only will they be out of pocket, but they will have committed a fraudulent crime, surely??

    Hmm, the PayPal lady didn't seem to think I'd have a problem and said that it fell under the "service" category (seeing as, technically, this company is not providing the flights or hotels, they are just the middleman).

    I hope you are right. But your item is neither tangible nor physical is it?

    Services, if you read my link, are exempt protection. Exempt, as in, not covered.

    No, there is no fraud there.

  • Can't say too much at the moment as there is now multiple investigations going on, but I received a full refund and apology from Groupon.

    Thank you SO much to everybody who took the time to reply. I really appreciate all your help and input.

    If you have a refund, so quickly, why can't you say too much? Who gave the refund? Who is investigating?
