Out of interest, are there ANY free to view channels on the web that dont breach copyrights??? Personally I think theres enough dribble on the 120+ channels my tv box offers. I remember when we had 3 channels to choose from, bizzarrely there was much more available to watch back then. ;)
Only ones you can trust are when it's from the broadcaster's own websites, eg BBC, Channel 4 etc. If it's any kind of third party that have no official tie to the broadcasting channel and haven't produced it themselves I'd say it was pretty safe to assume it's illegal.

Actually TV licensing have been pretty sneaky and now explicitly state that if you view any tv over broadband that originates in the UK you still need a licence. So you can ditch any tv tuning equipment you have at all, tvs, video recorders and pc tv tuners and you'll STILL need a licence if you view UK based tv over the internet. So yes you'll definitely still need a licence just about no matter what you do.

I am very sorry for posting this once again as I did not realise it was illegal. Please can Expresso let me know what other posts of mine have been removed for having illegal links because I cannot remember any others. Once again I apologise and maybe I did over-react when saying your attitude stinks. I am very sorry for saying that. I am glad you pointed out to me that it was illegal though. Once agagin I offer my sincere apologies to anyone who was offended. Please forgive me.

You don't need to apologise again, I think it's quite obvious to everyone that you are completely sincere. It's just one of those things that you may not realise it's illegal until you actually look into to it. But if you don't know it's illegal then what would motivate you to look into it in the first place, catch 22. E.g. I was pretty shocked when I found out a couple of years ago that CD ripping is still technically illegal, yet I've even seen magazines and publications get that wrong and contradict the fact. You have to have quite a decent amount of scepticism (or grumpy old cynicism) to start investigating everything. But if something is extremely cheap or free I think in general it's worth looking into just to make sure.

I heard an item on 'You And Yours', and according to the chap from TV licensing you don't need a license to use the new BBC i-player, (as long as you are not viewing the program at the actual time of live broadcast).
I expect they will soon stop this loophole.

You're absolutely right, it only covers if you are watching while it is being broadcast.
