I am not sure if a thread exists on Old Style but I thought I would start this one (later to be merged if need be) about toilet rolls as a discussion has developed on another thread about them.
For a long time I used the Nicky Elite, I got them from Netto but then Netto closed and after that I kind of went back to Andrex, but since using the Nicky I have never really thought much of Andrex to be honest. I really liked the Sainsbury's Shea Butter (scented) toilet rolls as well and used to get those.
Since moving oopp North I came across some Farm Foods shops and found that they stock the 18 roll pack of the Nicky Elite so got some today. They really are a lovely loo roll and even if you blow your nose on them they don't leave a powdery dust behind on your hooter like some do
The original thread for Toilet Rolls on MSE was in a different forum area (Food and Groceries), but the link is here if you wish to refer back to it:-

If you are looking to get the Nicky toilet roll make sure it is the 3ply Nicky Elite:-

Farm Foods were selling these for £3.75 for an 18 roll pack or £1.25 for a four roll pack. Still well worth it. Iceland also do their own Petal toilet roll and it is made by Nicky as well and that is really good as well for £1.00 for four rolls.
I think the ASDA Shades came out very well in a survey last year, but sorry I have not used them so I don't know what they are like.
The Nicky kitchen roll is alright as well, not as strong as the Plenty rolls, but for everyday run of the mill stuff it's worth getting and keeping the Plenty/Regina rolls for bigger heavier jobs!
Sorry to wax lyrical about loo rolls, but well to be honest we all buy them and need them - unless of course someone still cuts up the newspaper, or has a secret stash of Izal

I used to like Andrex Aloe Vera, but now I'm a convert to Nicky Elite, too - I buy the 18-roll packs from Home Bargains.Above all, I have been a sentient being, a thinking animal, on this beautiful planet, and that in itself has been an enormous privilege and adventure.Oliver Sachs 20150

I get the 24 pack Regina from Family Bargains for 5.99,I've even converted my eldest DD who was a bit snooty about anything that wasn't Andrex

The last time I went to FF I bought an 18 roll pack of Nicky toilet rolls (the green pack which are Elite, quilted and 3 ply) and think that they are nice and soft as well as smelling nice. I gave one to mum today so that she can try them but she thought that they were thin.
I have used Velvet before now but cannot justify the cost. I like the Sainsbury's with Shea Butter but again I cannot justify the cost. I only ever buy loo rolls when they are on offer.
I hate cushelle which don't seem to dissolve and instead block the loo and the drainpipes.0 -
we love asda shades

I bought the 18 pack Nicky toilet rolls last week from Home Bargains and they are not 3ply or the same size ! Same packaging, same design ,same smell but 1 third smaller sheets and so thin.
Not got the receipt but next time i buy i am going to check the size of the sheets.

Are the Nicky Elite toilet rolls that I hear so many good things about fragranced? I can't seem to use fragranced toilet roll, so on the look out for fragrance free recommended paper. Currently use and like Saisnburys basics, but they've put the price up recently and I don't really shop there any more so it seems a bit much to travel there just for loo roll!PAYDBX 2016 #55 100% paid! :j Officially bad debt free...don't count my mortgage.
