Worst car we have ever owned. No positives whatsoever.

They may come with a 5 year warranty, but as my sister is finding with her 4 year old i30 getting dealers to fix problems becomes a battle every time.

The Getz is a good car and would cost much less than an i20. You'd have to get an older one though as they stopped making them when the i -range came in.

Got that gen of i10 its just reached three years old only grumble was the instrument cluster had to replaced due alright flicker on the backlight but didn't have any problems with the dealer getting it changed, just mentioned it when it was serviced they ordered the part and changed it a few days later. I suspect its depends on the dealership more than anything.

Would buy from Hyundai again, but I haven't tried age of i20 so can't really comment on the car its self.
  • Considered it but went with the Mazda 2 and sooo glad i did!
  • Just to balance the above out, we have got an i20 as a second car, 1.2 61-plate bought from new. It's only been lightly used, it's now three years old with 18k miles, and it goes like it's brand new. We've never had any problems apart from a misfire once, and I took it to the dealer and the service was excellent. Can't knock the dealer or the car at all. Unfortunately the dealer has lost the franchise now, so we might change make next time to stick with the same dealer, but otherwise I'd buy another in a heartbeat.

Mine has a squeak on the serpentine belt on startup if it's reeeeeally cold, but other than that it's a fab little runner and great on fuel economy :)

The new Hyundai i20 has had some excellent reviews from the motoring press and is said to be much better than the existing model. I had an i30 and found it very reliable indeed, if a little pedestrian.

Did they not kind of acknowledge there was an issue and change the clutch they used in later models before the 2012/13 cars the op is looking at (sorry can't be bothered to read all of that thread again)?

For what it's worth my 2010 is approaching 50k and is still on it's first clutch, car is cheap to run and (touch wood) has given me a good few years of hassle free motoring.
