How Much Does Teeth Whitening Cost?

Actually it is illegal for the strips to be imported in even if it's for personal use.
Amazon have a long track record of supplying illegal and dangerous goods teeth whitening products being one of them. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1304856/Online-alert-toxic-tooth-whitening-kits.html
Just because you bought them from the U.S. site does not make them legal or legit. It is illegal for someone to send them to the UK, the company are knowingly breaking the law sending them anywhere in the EU.
The only trustworthy way to buy then is to buy them in a pharmacy there and bring them back in your luggage.0 -

How is bringing them over in your luggage different to posting them? What evidence are you basing these claims on? How did you learn about this legal difference? These are very specific claims. All I can find is that they shouldn't be sold in the EU.0 -
If you are bringing them in for personal use then no law has been broken as you bought them outside of the EU for personal use.
The reason you cannot get white strips direct from Proctor and Gamble their manufacturers etc is because it is illegal to import a banned product into the EU. Whitening products containing more than 0.1% hydrogen peroxide are illegal in the EU and whitening strips contain many hundreds of times that concentration.http://safetoothwhitening.org/index.php/what-is-the-law#over-the-counter-products
Unscrupulous traders are aware of this and set up websites abroad to try to circumvent the law (often what appears to be a UK or US website is really Bulgarian etc ). They are well aware they are breaking the law as this exchange reveals from a well known whitening strip purveyor http://www.justanswer.com/uk-law/3xqzj-uk-website-www-crestwhitestrips-co-uk-technically.html
Yet another report on illegal selling of whitening strips, some from American sites http://www.theguardian.com/money/2010/aug/20/illegal-tooth-whitening-online0 -
I've used strips which I bring back from the USA.
As the USA is such a litigious place, I don't understand why they are allowed if they are so dangerous.
Btw: I use them less than once a year.Member #14 of SKI-ers club
Words, words, they're all we have to go by!.

Thank you for explaining this. I think I'll find another way to whiten my teeth if I ever do it again!
I do trust the whitestrips themselves, just not how to obtain them in the UK.0 -
Actually dentists are more than likely to be sued in the UK than the U.S. Israel comes second and the U.S. third.
The peroxide ban in the EU is the result of recommendations from the scientific committee. The particular problem with strips is there is no way of stopping the peroxide getting onto gums , causing burns and worse.
The big problem is the numbers of dangerous , counterfeit strips that people are conned into thinking are safe to use. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-essex-304165190 -
I'd been looking online at sites like boots where they seem to sell various teeth whitening products, i just thought they would be a cheap and cheerful alternative that isn't as good as the more expensive option.
I'm happy to pay a few hundred for it to be done properly as long as it lasts longer than 5 minutes0 -
If you can buy it over the counter it won't whiten.
OTC kits cannot legally contain enough of the chemical that whitens teeth. The best you can hope for is they may abrade away some stain. By buying a kit you will spend a lot more than a NHS dental check up costs.
As an ex smoker you know how important it is to check your mouth to ensure its health, please don't try to find excuses to avoid making that check up.0
