How Much Does Teeth Whitening Cost?

I used to have relatively white teeth until i started smoking
I quit about 2 years ago and moved on to Ecigs. I tried to brush myself white because i managed to do that once but it is difficult for me to do now because it only works when you drink water pretty much exclusively and i like pepsi max too much.
Im getting the vain urge to whiten them because white teeth looks much nicer, but wondering what it costs? Maximum i would want to pay is £500 maybe £600.
I've lived in my current property for about 3 years and noticed a couple of months ago that there's a teeth whitening clinic literally a 40 second walk from my flat :rotfl:
Cheers.

So your going to pay £500 or £600 to whiten them and then spoil it by drinking pepsi?
Can you see a flaw in your plan?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Is the teeth whitening clinic run by dentists? If not then it is illegal and should be reported to the GDC. Here is a link you should read if you are thinking about teeth whitening http://www.gdc-uk.org/Newsandpublications/Publications/Publications/Considering%20Tooth%20Whitening.pdf
However if your teeth are merely stained a visit with a hygienist will be cheaper and have more health benefits. Discuss this with your dentist. As a rough guide dentist whitening will cost from £120 to £500 at very ritzy places in metropolitan centres. A hygiene visit will cost about £40 to £60.0 -

Can you suggest an alternative drink?0 -

I will have more of a look when i go past it next. Not sure if it a full on dentist, seems more of a specialist whiten clinic?
What will the hygienist do then?
Currently, i don't have a dentist... last time i saw one was at school probably 15 years ago now... Although saying that, there's a dentist within a 40 second walk from mine and it says nhs on it?0 -
Number one priority is go see a dentist. Your oral health is vital and whitening can exacerbate a lot of problems. Teeth whitening should never be done without a full dental check up, x Rays and possibly a hygiene visit first.
A hygienist will scale and polish your teeth which may well get rid of any staining. As staining is a cosmetic problem you may well have to pay privately for this.
I very much doubt that the "whitening clinic" is run by dentists and therefore is illegal, avoid like the plague.
Ask your friends, workmates and family for a recommendation never just pick a dentist because they have nhs on a sign outside , always pick a dentist on recommendation.0 -

How long does this scale and polish take out of interest?
You raise a good point about getting my teeth checked first, i had already mulled that over but was contemplating just taking a chance due to being scared of dentists finding something dodgy and wanting to pull something out. The wrong approach i know.I very much doubt that the "whitening clinic" is run by dentists and therefore is illegal, avoid like the plague.

I will get the name of it when i go past it next and do some research. Looks fairly legitimate because its been there for a few years it would seem. The colour scheme on the outside of it is very unappealing which is why i never noticed what it actually did until recently.
I would ask family and friends but most people don't go to the dentist or pay to have their teeth whitened. It's not like asking someone if they know a good plumber.0 -
I would also suggest going to a dentist first for a check up, you will need work done.
A scale and polish takes a few minutes, I hate having it done every 3/6 months but it's because I am having gum problems.
Well done for giving up the evil weed, we did the same a year ago and are using the e.cigs too but still get stained teeth, no matter what the toothpastes say they can do.
Save you money and have a nice holiday instead, much better for the soul.

I am not a big fan of dentists..not because they arent nice people,,but because i was mentally scarred at the school clinic many years ago by someone jumping on me with a smelly rubber face mask. I remember waking up screaming..
Anyway 15 years is way too long,,hopefully you wont be in for a shock !
I have found a really nice dentist and i no longer fear going. He doesnt do NHS work, only private but its worth paying for.Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0 -

Does the polish make your teeth whiter?Well done for giving up the evil weed, we did the same a year ago and are using the e.cigs too but still get stained teeth, no matter what the toothpastes say they can do.

I would be surprised if they found anything bad, although i probably drink too much pepsi max, don't like tea or coffee.
Think i will be swapping to lemonade once i get them whitened.0
