Salty Bacon

Ticked

Fried bacon today and it was so salty it was inedible. I had washed it in cold water before frying. Has anyone a method to A) determine if bacon is salty before cooking, other than licking it, yuk, and
removing the salt. Would blanching help?

Buy quality dry cured, really does make a difference, you get what you pay for.0

We had this problem too even with fairly good quality bacon. We found that soaking it in a bowl of cold water for an hour or so first worked0

I've made my own dry cured bacon a few times. Good results.0

A little shop near here still does the bacon slicer joint method.
Oh, it is Bacon to die for, it stays the same size in the pan and the taste is worth the extra 30p for 7 slices.I do Contracts, all day every day.0
