How many no claims years?

My house insurance is due to expire mid-day 5th Feb. I have received the auto renewal letter and it states the quote minus 5 years no claims discount.
When I try the comparison websites today I will only have 4 years no claims discount as I haven't completed 5 years living at this address. I have stopped the auto renewal but will I get a cheaper/better quote if I sign up for new insurance on the 5th Feb as I will then have 5 years no claims discount?
Would the above apply for car insurance too?

You will have 5 years when the policy expires unless you make a claim in the meantime.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0

I know I will have 5 years no claims when this policy expires, but when getting a quote now I am asked how long I have lived at this address, which is 4 yrs till 5th Feb, and how many continuous years no claims, which is 4 yrs till 5th Feb.
So the question I'm really asking is when getting a quote now I am being quoted for only 4 years continuous no claims whereas if I leave starting a new policy till 5th Feb I will have 5 yrs which should be a lower quote?
Does that make sense?0 -
Have you been asked when you want the policy to start?.0

Thanks for the replies, but if I answer the questions as if it was the 5th Feb already and I had 5 years no claims would the scheming sods say I have mislead them on the application?
I was just wondering if they adjusted the no claims to 5 years automatically in the quotes as it is so close to renewal date.0 -
The quote is given on the assumption that you will have 5 years ncd. If any claims are made before the 5 Feb the quote will not be valid.0

All questions should be answered as at the date you want the policy to incept. Nothing will automatically update if you answer as at todays data on a new business quote0
