Protected NCD for life, Morethan - catch?

I wonder if somebody can confirm or blow away my fears about this. Now their offer of protected NCD 'for life no matter how many claims you make' is all well and good. But I wonder what would happen if/when one were to leave Morethan having claimed numerous times. Sure, you will still have your Full NCD, BUT: all insurers ask you how many claims you have made in the last 3-5 years, if it is loads then I fear a lot of them would refuse to insure you, or jack up the prices. Maybe Morethan too would also jack up their prices if you were to stay with them having made lots of claims?

Has anyone had any experience of this?

Suerly this is the catch to this deal?

I believe that the NCD for life only applies to the current insurer. So if you were to change companies the new insurer would take your claims history at face value.

Something to bear in mind also, a friend of mine took out a NCD for life policy with a company (not MORETHAN) and she had 1 claim in 12 months. At renewal the broker said they couldn't offer a quote with the existing company(?) She had to change insurers and lost her no claims bonus for the claim she made in the 12 months.

It seems pointless companies offering these protected for life policies if the insurers won't honour them!
