Advice on best options to sell my car

Hello
I'm looking for advice on best ways to sell my current car.
I am not a 'car person' so don't want to be taken for a ride :D
We Buy Any Car looks tempting but I can't imagine you get a good price from them
Welcome any advice or directing to previous discussions
Many thanks
Tracey

Depends on the value of the car.

Selling it privately will get the best price but take the most effort. We Buy Any Car or trading it in when you get a new car takes minimal effort but you'll get a lot less for it.

I went the We Buy Any Car route for a car that was worth about £500-800 - with a month left on the MOT, needing £500+ of welding and an immobilizer on the way out. Got £550 and it took about an hour of time.

I've recently found Ebay to be the best, not on auction but selling as Classified Ad.

Put it up at a realistic price with good description and photos and you should get a sale.

I always used to sell on Autotrader but the price is now not economic and I've found far more interest from Ebay.
Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.

All depends on the value, If its worth a lot/rare in demand then auto trader/ebay is the way to go people will travel a fair bit for the 'right car', if its cheaper then gumtree is free or you could advertise it in local supermarkets add boards, local for sale facebook groups, or even a sign in the window of the car and parked up in a supermarket.

It may sound obvious but a lot don't, give it a really good clean both inside and out, I once bought a car that managed to fill my dyson up twice from the dirt inside, needless to say it had been on the market for a while and I got a bargin!!

If its got less than 6months MOT then i'd get a new MOT, and don't forget you cant sell it with tax anymore, not 100% how it works but I believe you have to claim your tax back.

    Good luck
