Can I ever learn this budgeting lark? So far it's not looking promising
Lloyds loan - gone forever! :T
Bank of Mum and Dad gone forever!
    Emergency Fund £1500 :T
  • In terms of earning extra money, if you do have a pc and spare time you could start comping. I have been doing it on and off for maybe 10 years and if I keep on it and win bits here and there the money you can win or accrue through selling unwanted prizes does add up.

I have won a week all inc to the Bahamas around 5 years ago which was incredible. I do keep a log of everything I win and its value and on a normal year my prizes are worth between 1k-2k a year.

That said I have noticed in the last few years this dropped due to the number of comps available and the increased number of people entering affecting your odds. I dont think you can earn a living from it but its a fun way to get random things you probably wouldn't think to buy or try. You can keep or give or sell. They are free to enter and all it costs is time. I tend to sit on the laptop while my fella watches TV or a movies on. You cant retire on it but you might at least get some pressies through the post!

Here my diary by the way its not very exciting and right now my only goal for 2015 is to grow a £600 emergency fund.
Goal to Clear Debts £4592 Total Progress since 03/10/2020 £2802
Overdraft £1000 PAID OFF JAN 2021
    iPhone £817 PAID February 2021
    CC was £2775 now £1790 Savings - £42.11

Yes, well then I ruined it by having an Indian on Saturday my treat at £21.55 instead of going to the gym, then OH treated us to KFC last night  , also had to pay £1 for a library fine yesterday :o and then did my order this morning for the You Beauty Discovery box, which is my monthly treat. It used to be one of many monthly treats, but I'm scaling back obviously, and at £6.95 this seemed the most affordable of my bad habits to keep me from going off the rails!

Thanks for the link, will check out your diary today! :D

I did used to do some comps, never very regularly but I did win an Ipod something or other, that we gave my niece for Xmas that year! She was chuffed and so were we at our bargainous (I don't think that's a word... :o) oh and I won a gel pen :rotfl: but that's definitely an idea. I just can't do surveys...I tried and thought I would lose my marbles. Plus I always seem to be screened out anyway!

I need to sort out my Race for Life Entry really, the closest venue to me is only small and I'm scared it will sell out, but after all this splurging on take-aways I now don't want to :rotfl: I might do it tomorrow night...

Exciting times this morning...all my monthly bills and DD's went out today, except for a couple that go out midmonth :D

I breathed a sigh of relief when the Council Tax didn't go out (even though I knew it wouldn't, how daft am I???), so I have re-appropriated the £58.50 (my half of the CT bill), towards paying off what I owe the joint account. So the new outstanding balance for that debt is £63.89 :D That will be done and dusted next month, and I can begin to snowball the payments to the CC and DFS HP :D:D:D I will be down to 1 debt by the beginning of next year!

Spent some money yesterday, but it wasn't my "own" money. It was money me and OH got for Xmas from family. So we bought a new doormat, runner for the hall and other bits and bobs for the house. Oh and a burger each for OH and me for lunch :D

Today will be a spendy day though :o the bread is mouldy  so I'm going to have to buy my lunch at work, drat. I really didn't want this to happen...

New total for my debt is : £9872.36 :D

    Morning Diaryland,

Did a Te$co food shop yesterday evening to be delivered today, came in at £43.88, which I'm happy with, staying under my goal of £50 per week, though I budget £60 a week. Hoping there might be a bit of surplus in the food budget at the end of the month that I can put towards my debts :D Doh! I've just realised I didn't use my Te$sco voucher for 0.13p :rotfl:

Spent £3.80 on my lunch yesterday :o it didn't need to be that much, I took a yoghurt and a banana with me, so all I needed was a small filled roll or something like. Instead I ignored my banana and yoghurt and bought a mayo filled wrap and a big bag of crisps  not optimistic about my weigh in tomorrow, especially after all the cheese I consumed yesterday evening...

I desperately want to be under 10stone by the end of the month when it's my birthday, but I'm just not making it happen. Need to sort my head out, this is all in my mind. Going the gym tonight, and I plan on working VERY hard :D

Oh, and as the shopping isn't coming until tonight I'm going to have to buy lunch today. This time I WILL only buy a small filled roll :D

Wohoo, got paid 0.83p interest on the bank account this morning, so have thrown it towards the debt. Nothing more to add :rotfl: :rotfl:

Hoping today will be a NSD, but if I finish work late I will have to catch the bus home rather than get my usual lift. In which case it will be £3.80 spent.

Still need to find a spare minute to think about what other DFW things I can do to raise money/save money to pay towards my debts. Still need to sort out my uniform rebate. Still need to do an inventory of all my toiletries too, so I know exactly how much stuff I have, what of it I won't use and can maybe sell on eBay or throw away, and stop me from buying things I don't need.

Uggh and I'm working this weekend too, so next day off will be Tuesday next week  I'm going to be a tried and grumpy Eyebright in a few days :rotfl:

The 123 cash back got paid into the account today, to the tune of £4.87 :rotfl: so have sent that at the debts :D taking the JA owing down to £58.19.
Really pleased with how this is coming down now, given that it was at £188.54 on the 23/01 when I got paid. That's £130.35 paid off this month :D That will be cleared on my next payday, and one debt will hit the dust!

I have £105 to last me until the end of the month in my bank account. I think it's about 18 days to payday, which works out to just over a fiver a day. Put that way it sounds do-able! I just need to make sure I keep my purse strings pulled tight. I'm working this weekend and OH is away Saturday for a poker evening with his mates, so I will have to get the bus on Sunday, £4.90 for a Day rider ticket. Hopefully he will give me a lift on the Saturday! :D

I definitely need to sort out my Race For Life Entry, which will eat £15 of that money or 3 days of NSD's! Quite like working it out like that, makes me really think if I want to splash out on something if I have to be austere on other days to account for it...

Have a lovely day everyone! xx
