Anyone heard of/subscribing to SIMPLYHEALTH ?

I was over at my Aunt's house a couple of days ago. She is 93 and has Altzheimers. I found a letter to her stating something like "Welcome to SimplyHealth" and saw from her bank statements that she has is paying them £21.84 a month under a direct debit.
I, and my sister, have Power of Attorney and wonder who are "SimplyHealth" and what is it that she is paying for. She has no private health scheme and gets all her medications from the NHS for no charge.
This webpage https://www.simplyhealth.co.uk/sh/pages/about-us.jsp states that they "believe in helping people access affordable healthcare" but I suspect that she may be throwing this money down the drain.
Anyone help me here?

If you have financial power of attorney you should be able to sign up for an online account for your Aunt and see/manage all details for her.
The premium looks a bit low for any decent cover, I'd expect more like £100/m. SH have limits on what they'll pay out in any one year and you must declare all preexisting conditions, for which you won't be covered.0 -
Yes - we spent 2 hours in a branch of her bank getting this started but it will take another couple of weeks before we get the full access to her account. In the meantime, I am wondering what this SimplyHealth thing is and how she signed up for it.
She was in hospital a few weeks ago, I am wondering if someone in there signed her up for it?I am a cow so cannot speak Bullshine but I do recognise its smell when I come upon it.0 -
SimplyHealth is a medical insurance company, However, they also run health cash plans and, judging by the fact your aunt is only paying £21.84 a month, this is probably what she's actually signed up for.
After a qualifying period (not sure how long), your aunt WILL be able to claim money back for some of her healthcare, such as hospital stays, dental care and eye care with no strings attached and it may well not be money down the drain. However, I understand your concern and suggest that you ring them on 0800 0560366 to discuss this.'Never argue with an idiot. They will only bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.' George Carlin0 -
That really is very helpfull!

My mum uses simplyhealth and they have been fantastic with her chemo treament payments and recently she has had several long stays in hospital and received payment from this quickly after sending in her claim form.
Their customer service team are really friendly and helpful so I would highly recommend giving them a call after the way they have spoken to my mum & me recentlyFirst Date 08/11/2008, Moved In Together 01/06/2009, Engaged 01/01/10, Wedding Day 27/04/2013, Baby Moshie due 29/06/2019 :T0 -

I had chemo about 18 months ago and they paid me £30 for each session and half the cost of a wig (which I never actually wore!).'Never argue with an idiot. They will only bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.' George Carlin0 -
I've been with Simply Health since it took over from Leeds Hospital Fund and have found its Cash Plan good value in paying out for optical, dental, chiropody etc.
At the moment it is trying to promote its Dental Health Plan, so this is what your mother may have signed up to.
I think there is an upper age limit on new customers for its Health Cash Plans, but not sure.
Edit: Just looked at their website and there is an 'Over 70 Cash Plan' but can't find any premium that matches what she's paying.0 -

Looks like she's paying a Level 2 subscription.
Check their website and see whether you think she will recoup her annual payment.0
