When I load a disc into my DVD drive the laptop is not seeing it.
My computer is seeing the D drive but not any discs in it.
The kids might have switched something off.
Any ideas.

OK - i have found a solution on another site which I shall copy here. I have not tested this so take no responsibility etc...etc. Editing the registry is not advised by Microsoft but could fix your problem
1. Start Regedit - Click Start, Run and type regedit, click OK
2. Once you have regedit open navigate (on the left) to the following folder:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SYSTEM \ CurrentControlSet \ Control \ Class\!!4D36E965-E325 -11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
3 . On the right hand side delete:
"Upperfilters"
"Lowerfilters"
4. Reboot the PC and windows should p[ick up your DVD drive as a new drive.
As I said I have not tested this so it may not work. Good luck
