I know we digress but my data says the total land acreage of the UK is 60,319,181 acres
Of this
Forestry commission 2m acres
MoD 600,000 acres
Agricultural land 41m acres
Urban land 4.2m acres
forested land 5.6m acres
water 800,000 acres
Some of the biggest "land owners" are..
Duke Of Buccleuch 277,000 acres
Trustees of the Duke of Atholl 148,000 acres
Prince of Wales 141,000 acres
Duke of northumberland 132,000 acres
Duke of Westminster 133,000 acres
The vast majority of these lands were simply gifted and handed down as favours to the rulers at that time,or favours in battle,notably the Norman Conquests.
I suspect there has been a discussion thread on this interesting subject in the past !Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0 -
