Because then he'll be able to fix all the problems / failures you're going to have on a 15-17 year old people carrier with maybe 150K+ miles?
Can he get free turbos, gearboxes, pumps, injectors, calipers, steering racks, etc? Or perhaps an engine free if / when it gives up?
Alternatively, you could buy something much younger, less miles and less likely to fail.0 -

Obviously it is of great benefit that your oh is a mechanic.
For the miles you are doing(5200 yr) you don't need a diesel and will get a far better petrol for the money. Work out the fuel cost for 30mpg v 40mpg at those miles and you will not notice it.

I wouldnt worry about how much you can get off just make sure you get a good un.0 -
In the old days a mechanic could fix problems with cars and source new/second hand parts. I suppose these days they just sell brake fluid changes.Because then he'll be able to fix all the problems / failures you're going to have on a 15-17 year old people carrier with maybe 150K+ miles?
