Fundraising for Project trust- help!

Hi
My 17 year old daughter has been accepted to work overseas with Project trust for her Gap Year. She has to fund-raise £5650 and is finding it hard as there 9 other students in our small, rural area all doing the same thing. She has a virgin money page http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/EllisDixon, and is organizing bake sales, a sponsored walk etc. but could do with some extra ideas -can anyone help please?

I (reluctantly) funded all of my kids gap year/holiday experiences because basically, the shame of them asking my neighbours to fund their round their world holiday/overseas experience would have tipped me over the edge.

I see that you are asking the internets in general to fund yours. Something I would never have thought of.

If she has a large F/B or Twitter following, she could always try sites such as 'GoFundMe'. These use crowdfunding to generate donations.
However, research shows that 93% of the funding comes from the requester's circle of friends (and their friends) with just 7% coming from total strangers with no connection to the donation requester.

Also, some crowdfunding sites have a 'raise the lot, or get nothing' policy, so best to check first.

I was not asking for donations, just for some different ideas about how she can raise the money herself. Part of the learning experience is finding the funding. She is not having a holiday, but going to teach English for a charity, and will be there for 12 months,living and working (very hard) like a local but without taking a job from a local person (hence needing to fund raise to cover her costs). I am sorry if I have offended anyone, but I am a single working parent (on low wages working for a charity) who does not claim any benefits, and much as I would love to be able to help her financially I cannot. I only wanted advice and support to help her to help herself . Babbawah - I am proud of my daughters efforts to earn the money for herself, I wonder if you are as proud of yours and their "gap year/holidays". Patman99 -thank you for your advice.

I was just suggesting one way of going about raising part/all the funds she needs.

She could also look at dog-walking/pet-sitting, car washing, sponsored cycle ride.....
The list is as long as your imagination.

As for not taking a job from the locals, by teaching the locals English, she is taking the job of a local English teacher.

She will be working alongside a local English teacher in the classes, and organising out of school clubs to reinforce the school learning outside of the class room. She will also be volunteering in another local charitable project, probably an orphanage.
