we both work, full rent, ive read between the lines at head council office and they state on swap forms, no part of income is mentioned on form, just number of persons, associations do opposite, they need to know wages or benefits.
now council swap forms policy state 1 bed max if your a couple, no kids, regardless if you work despite the fact 96% of their properties are 2 bed or above. so i have to find an association that allows 2 beds, based on wages, but id be moving close to retirement and living of small pension, savings till state pension age which flings spanner in works.
if the town i want to move to is mostly council, then im shafted if its mostly 2 beds they have,
if council will blatently admit that they changed their opinion of the 1 bed extra rule on housing act 2005 with regard the introduction of the bedroom tax, then id have grounds to fight them, but they wont admit, they say its to make best use of stock, regardless if you work and claim no benefits.

they never said that before april 2013, when bedroom tax came in.do they think were stupid, you should read the compliants swappers on homeswapper have expressed that work and cant swap to a 2 bed anymore in my county and they cliam no benefits, pay rent on full from wages

but council are more than happy to rent to a single mum with kids on benefits a 2 bed, before they allow a working couple to swap to a 2 bed, even if it helps the couple relocate to a new town for new job.

hence why i say private renters sometimes choose what they want if they work, if you work and rent council, then wages have no significance to ur right to rent with them

There is obviously more demand where you are/ want, than where I am.

    Have just googled this site

    http://www.houseexchange.org.uk/landlords/homefinder-uk.aspx

it talks about the national mobility scheme which was in place prior to Home swapper. Not sure if it answers any questions for you as I have not read into it.

A lot of the frustration is not knowing or having access to housing law. Could you speak to your local MP or councillor

i spoke to my mp last year, he knows less than me! homeswapper is bigger than house exchange, i had a perfect swap lined up, then the council changed their interpretation of the 10 refusal reasons of the 2005 act, exactly the same time the bedroom tax kicked in, hence couples in 1 beds cant swap in my council to a 2 bed and are stuck in the same dwelling, thus if i buy, then no more rules except the 5 yr repayment of discount rule.

the council should ask for my wages if i can pay 68 for a 2 bed vs 64 for a 1 bed, then they should let us move, we can pay without benefits.

i was hoping for more news withe the right to move policy, does anyone know when it will be introduced
