Euro Car Parks PCN

Hello there, just a quick one. I got a letter through the post about having overstayed in a Morrisons car park by 57 mins. They got my number plates on camera.

Here's where the weirdness happens: I call to pay the reduced (£50 within 28 day) charge and it asks me for my notice number, I punch it in and get a message "This parking charge notice has been paid or closed." End of call.

I thought maybe I had put the notice number in wrong, so I called back and tried again to the same effect.

So either the charged has been closed for some unknown reason or someone has accidentally put my number in and paid my charge instead of my own.

I wouldn't want someone else's mistake to result in their paying twice or otherwise getting in trouble.

I also don't want to bring it to their attention in case they themselves closed the notice.

So what do I do?

Thanks in advance.

For a start, you discard all thoughts about paying them money. What on earth were you thinking?
  • To be absolutely fair, there were signs and I did overstay, was having an argument in the Job Centre and she kept me waiting a long time waiting for the manager, checking information, photocopying etc... Really drew it out.

Since I can't really afford a £50, I really can't afford an £85 one. The letter did seem to be all in order too: mentioned pofa, asked for payment or name of driver, etc... Didn't really see an 'out'.

I think you need to acquaint yourself with the content of the NEWBIES sticky thread in this forum. Then you'll understand that it's all a scam, and you DO NOT PAY.
  • I just finished reading through a lot of it. Doesn't seem to indicate that I don't have to pay it, just advising me of methods of challenging it which may or may not be successful.

So in my particular case where I've tried to pay and have been told by an automated service that it's already been paid or cancelled and I don't know if it's a problem with their system or someone else may have accidentally paid my pcn what should I?

You have a good ticket fairy looking after you. They are giving you a 2nd chance.

People on here are trying to help - it is a money saving site. If you want their help to NOT pay the ticket, then stick around.

If you want our advice about how to enable you to pay it when you have encountered some paying problem with the PPC technology, then you need to go somewhere else, I am afraid.
  • Not necessarily looking for help to pay, just reassurance that in this instance I would be ok not paying since that automatic phone service they have tells me it's paid/closed already.

You seem to have used their phone service to pay. Have you tried to do it via their website portal?

I'm not suggesting you pay it, just use the portal to check whether you're getting the same message that it's been already paid. If it shows that, take a screen shot ........ and keep hold of it.
