Rocket Tab Virus

A friend has managed to get there laptop infected with what seems to be this virus.

I have not seen this but only spoken to them on the phone. They say they get the error about the client.exe but does not allow them to go in to windows. I have had a search and not sure how to proceed as it seems I can't get in to windows to solve it.

Its there own fault as they had AVG and Zone alarms on there machine and it said it was conflicting and they did nothing to sort it out

    Step by step instructions here

As I said I have searched and I know what I am suppose to do.

But not sure if I am missing anything. As they the person is saying it wont go in to windows.

Which if the case is true I am going to have a tough time sorting it out.

That is a different problem then because Rocket Tab is not even really a virus, it simply presents coupons, advertisements and sponsored links via a pop-up box and preventing access to Windows would be counter productive!

    Yes I know it's not a virus.

I will go and look at it tomorrow and think I might slap him round the face with a kipper LOL!!!!

I am now looking at the laptop and I can see what he means.

He goes to load windows gets the Dos shell window but the background is black.

Once it loaded windows and I went to control panel after waiting 10 mins it still still had not loaded anything within the window!!!

    Any ideas???

try the hitman pro kickstart on it, it involves creating and using a bootable usb, it's good on ransomware and other similar windows not starting-type problems:-
