IPC Goes North Of The Border

http://www.transportxtra.com/magazines/parking_review/news/?ID=40342

You have to laugh at these fatuous statements:-

“The IPC considers the provision of an appeals service to be fundamental to providing fairness for motorists. So, while we are not required to offer this appeal process in Scotland, we believe it is right to raise standards in line with those in England and Wales.”

And

“The IPC believes it is fundamental that all car parks, where members issue parking charges, are audited. This is a requirement of their membership. As there has previously been no requirement for operators to have all sites audited, it is a huge task, but one which is ongoing and extremely successful. It is an effective way of identifying where issues have previously gone unnoticed or remained unresolved. The auditing of all car parks is something which the IPC believes should be undertaken by all operators across the industry.”

Some people who might previously have ignored will now appeal in the mistaken belief that they're dealing with a genuine appeals service, and in doing so out themselves as driver. That's what this is about.

"Currently drivers in Scotland can only take their appeal to the enforcement firm that issued the ticket and have no recourse to an independent tribunal. "

    or more correctly

"Currently drivers in Scotland can [STRIKE]only take their appeal to the enforcement firm that issued the ticket and have no recourse to an independent tribunal[/STRIKE] safely ignore all such notices issued by private parking companies."

Perhaps not as useful to them but certainly more helpful for motorists in Scotland :D
