AA insurance price matched again

I have just got AA insurance to match the lowest price I could find for my car insurance and breakdown cover so got a reduction of £53.03 on my car insurance and £51.55 on my breakdown so £104.58 saved this morning:j

I do wish however that I did not jump through these hoops every year. They did exactly the same last year - they send me a quote - I do a comparison and ring up to cancel and then they price match to stop me leaving. Must be a waste of their time but I daresay there are some people who are so apathetic they just pay the original quote.

Might depend on the insurer, I paid about £360 last year with more than - changed car about 6 weeks ago, policy has gone up to £560 or so, rang up and they can't do anything on the phone - went on the comparison sites and got quoted with a mainstream company (Aviva via Quote me happy) for about £20 less than last year even though the car is more powerful and I had a notified (but no claim) incident in my old one

Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.
