Kindle email addresses are not external services like Yahoo or Hotmail with an inbox, sent items etc.

Rather it is an internal system linked to your Kindle- you can email stuff to your kindle address from say hotmail as a way of getting documents and other files onto the device. Amazon then converts them into a compatible format for the device.

Check out the FAQs on Amazon on the subject :)
  • Yes, as KxMx says, you send to that kindle email address (from your current email address) to read on your kindle.

For example, send an email to your @kindle email with a pdf attachment, and put 'convert' in the subject. Wait a little while, and then your kindle will display the text of the converted pdf - as best as it can (pdf conversion can be a little ropey though).

or you can sent normal txt. files etc.

There is also a 'Send To Kindle' app which makes sending documents from your PC or tablet to the Kindle as described above much easier. http://www.amazon.com/gp/sendtokindle
