Savvy Shopper! I've been Money Tipped!

    Hey guys
So last night I made a list of things I need at the moment. Bike helmets, bike lights, a new back pack that is bigger & more designed for a bike rider, & a back pack high vis. Anyway as I have managed to acrure £30 in amazon trade ins plus a bonus £5 for trading in over £10 in one go, I decided to shop on amazon.
My first go at it came to £50 & I couldn't apply the voucher as it turned out none of the items were actually sold by Amazon just through it. But then I found a really nice large backpack that is day glo yellow high vis so that took away the need for the back pack skin. This one was also several pounds cheaper & because it was sold direct by Amazon I could apply the £5 extra voucher. So I've managed to get a brand new back pack for free.
As I still have 1 more trade in that is pending I am going to wait to do the other few bits, probably till tommorow. But I just wanted to re advertise how good this trade in thing is. And point out that you don't just need to buy more books or films, there are so many useful items on there.

And to balance my shopping plug I wanted to share a great post on going minimalist as so many of us seem to be like minded on this http://www.becomingminimalist.com/finding-minimalism/
Off to work soon, have a good day all.

  • Shopping is DONE! I'm rubbish at online shopping but a 25% off voucher can't be ignored and it does mean I've got to lay in bed on a Sunday morning and do it rather than a cold trek out with small child attached.

Maria - glad the funeral went as well as it could. It's never nice going to a funeral for someone young.

Bob- thanks for the link. I keep meaning to read more of that blog and might do it now while DH makes me some toast! Sunday is my lie in day so I'm making full use.

    So, this weekend I'll hopfully....
*Check that all the banks are ticking over DONE
    *online shop using voucher DONE
*shop for days before delivery using a list and sticking to it! DONE
    *swim on Sunday morning
    *bottle more wine
    *unclutter my dressing table DONE
*put ALL the washing away DONE
*haggis heaps and tatties for Burns Night (DH is Scottish)
*clean the bits of the bedroom I can get to now
    *take DS1 to see Paddington

I think that should do for the weekend!

  • Morning folks,

Maria - sorry to hear about your friend.

Foxgloves - epic on the dress :)

I've been a bit awol. Looks like everyone has been busy. Lots of decluttering going on! I have been doing some too. I thought that I didn't have any clutter (never had much money to buy things) but boy was I wrong! The clutter is mostly things which were once loved/useful/needed but are now longer so.

I shan't post a list as I'm on my phone and it's too annoying to type. I shall be trying to keep the faith though despite a nasty cold that is trying to break out in me.

    Have a good Sunday

  • Clf sorry to hear your coming down with a cold, I too am battling a cold/cough thing I'm trying to defeat it with vitamin C, zinc, plenty of fluids and resting when I can.

Success we have cleared the kitchen table :j and to celebrate I am just about to set it for us to eat our brunch at, first time we have been able to eat at since before Christmas, normally eat at the dinning table but sometimes its easier quicker to eat in the kitchen.

    Morning DFW-Jedis,

Well, life goes on, as does the almost everlasting quest for solvency and sanity. The sun's almost shining this morning, I hope it lasts. Sorry for my absence, had a case of the never-quite-got-round-to-it-itis and also lack-of-inspiration-itis. I haven't been in here since October.

Bit out of practice at this but will do my best. Maria sorry for your loss. Foxgloves I read aloud your post about your dress to OH who found it as funny as I did. ;)

Today I shall be, erm, what will I do? :p

    The List

:starmod: Check online banking and reconcile monies. Work out how much I need to reserve as my employer has accidentally paid me double this week and, sadly, won't let me keep the extra.

:starmod: Check mobile broadband and broadband remaining allowances.

    :starmod: Backup my Finances Spreadsheet.

:starmod: Pursue quest for a new, permanent, well-paid career.

:starmod: Do i-Say surveys. I just had a £10 voucher which I spent on waterproof ski mittens as my hands get ultra-cold when I'm out running in the rain.

:starmod: Read free library books and listen to free audio CD stories.

:starmod: Enjoy snowdrops in the garden.

:starmod: Work through a long To Do list without moaning or getting (too distracted).

:starmod: Turn off electric alarm clock at the wall til tonight.

:starmod: Keep heating off as long as we can bear today.

:starmod: Walked down the road to the local boat show yesterday. Spent nothing and avoided the £3(!) car parking charge.

:D Stop employer auto-subscribing me into pension plan, again.

:D Doing our own Burns' Supper and listening to our own Scottish music instead of paying £20 a head to go to lovely one at our favourite bar.

:D Print payslip in case I need it in future.

:D Have a bl**dy good tidy up. Don't want to lose anything important.

:D Update signature on here to reflect debt reduction.

:D Work out what we're going to do with £5 Tesco Clubcard vouchers when they arrive soon.

:D Sell old derelict laptop on eBay.

:D Sold £10 of postage stamps yesterday earned through Royal Mail Surveys. Work out what I'm gonna do with the cash.

:D Top up fuel at Tesco next time as I have a 6p/litre off doodah.

:D Read news online instead of buying a paper.

:D Watch a show on OH's Amazon Prime instead of going to the cinema.

Well that's me for today. Good luck on your quests, Jedis.

    Morning all,
Ally - Welcome back. Glad you found my moment of empowerment in the fitting room amusing.
DawnW - Yes, Monsoon clothes do have a good re-sale value on eBay. My best eBay sales have been from selling clothes in sizes 18-26 as my weight dropped. Also worth keeping an ancient Monsoon garment in hand, as if you buy a full price new item of £50 or more, you can cash in any old garment for £10 off. I've also made a reasonable amount selling small vintage items such as old postcards, mid century china, jewellery, even an old property deed from the 17th century. A chunk of my past debt came from my love of antique/flea fairs, but I've got it under control now......mainly by no longer going to them!
Oh, hang on, better do my list now.........
    ......back in a minute.

  • Hi Everyone

We should all have DD and BF. They have put all the books on sorted shelves. We have also found another 6 bin bags to go to various places. We have FINISHED the books, thank goodness. There are over 100 books for DS1 when he is settled in new house at some point. What a nightmare those shelves have been.

So, am now left with DS1 old room, and 2 wardrobes.

Off to have a bath as am currently listening to tennis on radio and can not bear it. The Murray roller coaster ride is too much for me. Will then get dressed ready for GS visit and roast turkey lunch.

    Have a good afternoon all.

    Maria
