Old Style Saturday 24 January

O/S Daily Saturday 24 January 2015
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine?

Morning everyone.
Rained all night and certainly not as cold as last week.
Got a hair appointment first thing and then I'll go up to Oban for a mooch round the garden section of Homebase. Need to 'kit out' my new potting bench. And then I'll spend an hour going Birdwatch.
There will be some boring domestic chores to whizz through but they won't take too much time or energy. The outbuilding needs reorganised as the lovely builder moved things around and left things in a heap. However I forgive him cos he did such a good job.
Somehow I hurt my back yesterday, think it's muscular, and sometimes it just seizes. No idea how or why, will rub some cream on, stink the house out and enjoy the heat.
Hope the weather is kind to everyone and that you are well0 -
Morning all, Happy Saturday everybody. Feels chilly here this morning but not looked outside yet.
Had a F-A-B-U-L-O-U-S afternoon/evening yesterday spoling ourselves with the kids' Xmas gifts. Lovely Italian meal in Leeds late afternoon, the most calorific pasta dish ever, followed by a gorgeous lemon cheesecake and cream, accompanied by a glass or two of wine. Then on to the City bus up to the First Direct Arena for the Strictly Tour show. The arena was packed but DD had bought us excellent seats 6 rows from the front, almost in the centre. Excellent view of all the glamour. Oh we did enjoy it, even Mr TA, who was only going under sufferance, admitted it was much better than he was expecting. Much better atmosphere than watching the show on TV. Simon and Kristina did their Argentine Tango which stole the show and and once our votes had been counted they were declared winners of the night. The grand finale was all the celebs and pro's dancing to Let it Go from Frozen. It was just wonderful!
Well, today back to reality and cleaning up to do sadly, as it got postponed from yesterday. There's a big bowl of mash in the fridge left over from when DGDs stayed over Thursday night. So today's meals will need to use that up. Maybe fish pie, fish cakes or sausage and mash.
Have a good day all. Take care xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Good morning everyone,
Thank you so much for the birthday wishes yesterday, they were very much appreciated.
My plans for today are my usual housey jobs list, go to chemist for my prescription and hopefully a little me time.
Have a good, warm and safe day,
regards:j0 -
Morning All
Rained all day yesterday, still raining now and not very warm. Just taken DD to the station in the next town and the roads are treacherous, black ice everywhere, DD actually slipped on our drive when opening the gates.
Still not feeling too good, I have that ache behind my eyes and my skin is still sore, paracetemol seems to take the worst of it away, just takes a while to work.
Going to bite the bullet today and buy a wardrobe, it had been my intention to get a 2nd hand one, paint it and put it in my room but as we have a very tight turn in the stairs it has to be flat packed or come in sections. Found one from Wren that will be delivered in 2 sections and they will carry it upstairs. Could also do with going to HB to stock up on shampoo, etc but don't know if I can be bothered!
Hope you all have a good weekend, take extra care. XX0 -
Good Morning All x
Shhh the weather here is dry and the sun is shining, its even warmed up a bit (not a lot but hey every degree helps)
DW on and a basket full of washing to do.
Didnt sleep too well last night as DH spent the night at his dads but never do when he is away.
Got some plastic boxes from the pound shop yesterday that will fit perfectly under the sink in the bathroom so today i intend to sort the mess in there out and store anything that is not being used.
If i get the chance i will sort the airing cupboard as well as it has become a dumping ground.
Dinner tonight will be chicken kievs and veg.
Animals fed and walked and little boy is now curled up on his bed snoring away and twitching as he dreams lol.
Anyhoo better get on as the WM wont load itself (wish it would lol)
Hugs to all in need xxBright Blessings xx0 -
Hi all,
We had a fab night out last night, and didm,t drink too much, so clear headed this morning.
DH has gone out to do 'man things', so I,ll crack on with the pink jobs around the house, WM is on, DW needs emptying and vacuum needs to see the light of day......
We are being very extravigant and having a takeaway tonight, this is because our lovely friends paid for the meal last night, so we still have our treat pot for this month and DH has been working like the devil this week.
Will get some HP lamb out of freezer for Lamb Tagine tomorrow, with cous cous
Have a fab day all xNote to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!

Morning all,
Bit milder here today with no frost so have got the wm on the go and will hang it out for a while, its OH work stuff in the machine I did mine last night ( I do his separately as his work stuff gets filthy) and I used my tumble :T its very sad I know but I am thrilled with it all my washing dried and away by 9 last night, so just OH's work clothes to do, We will not be using it all the time but its got to help keep the damp / condensation problem down in the house.
Need to have a quick clean through today and nip to the local shop for a couple of bits but mainly have a relaxing day !
Need to get something out of the freezer to have for dinner or we might just have a takeaway as we didn't cave in last night.
Have good days all xx0 -
Morning all
Still frosty here but the sun is out so it looks cheerful.
Succumbed to a Thai takeaway last night instead of going out for fish and chips. DH and I shared Tamarind duck, mixed vegetables and sticky rice and it was lovely! Might try to find the duck recipe online and make it at home one day.
This morning I need to make a pudding to take to a meal out tonight and then I'll be settling down at 12.30pm to watch the rugby on tv. Wasps are playing Leinster in the new European Cup and I'm a long standing Wasps supporter.
Cat has just tried to get on my lap and been repelled by the laptop! Enjoy your day xx0 -
Morning all,
DH got called out this morning by his elderly Uncle whose heating wasn't working. Turned out he has a remote programmer and the batteries were dead. He's now gone to a neighbour to mend their toilet.
I've Kondo'd my under sink cupboard this morning and chucked lots of rubbishy bits out. Why, oh why do we keep bits of useless junk?!
DH, DS2 and GF off to watch Gills play this afternoon and I'm looking forward to the time on my own. Off out for dinner tonight to celebrate DS2's 18th.
Have a good day all

Afternoon, extremely late getting up this morning after a second bad night, load of laundry out on the whirly, if its not dry will give it a short whirl in the dryer.
OH still in the dog house........he is trying to apease me but its not going down too well at the moment. might let him out tomorrow.:D:rotfl::rotfl:
In the mean time spending some time in my sewing room trying to sort it out, I need to spend some serious time up there!! Fabric everywhere but where it should be. I am going to use the go cutter to cut up the small bits of fabric, and press and refold the bigger bits and put them in their boxes. Will cut mainly 2 1/2" strips and squares.
I also need to be sure that everything is sorted for Thursday afternoon. I am going to have to designate a corner for the crates.0
