Surely this is in the wrong part of the forums!
What is it to do with house buying/selling?
t5he forum is about house buying RENTING and selling ! most of those featured were renting and some were not paying rent
I don't get any benefits, we used to get child benefit like every other family, we have a reasonable income, through a couple of different streams and pay our taxes on time and support the benefits system with our contributions.
I think that gives me the right to make judgement or comment on those who clearly abuse the system, however I 'encounter their stories'.
I actually felt sorry for the family with the granny grabber, they clearly need some sort of support in their life skills, managing money etc. I hope they get it soon.
the ex con is trying to get back on track, its a shame he isn't invited into schools where he can perhaps show where bad decisions as a young person can ruin lives forever.
and no, I am not some cushy liberal thinking person, I believe in a benefits system, but not necessarily this one, and not necessarily a 'cash' benefits system. housing benefits should be paid direct to the landlord, vouchers issued for food NOT alcohol or tobacco products or taxis !! tokens issued for gas and electricity or paid direct to energy companies at a set rate and zero hour contracts abolished. we should pay the same benefit as the person is entitled to in the country named on their passport. no passport or id then no benefit0 -

So you think its perfectly fine to deprive somebody of their only means of buying food, paying bills etc. for the crime of being half an hour late once?
I wouldn't lose my job for being half an hour late.
Sad to see so many people falling for the propaganda. Now even long term benefit claimants have been brainwashed into believing they have to hate and judge long term benefit claimants.0 -

.
its not a crime BUT it doesn't comply with the rules set, ie attending once per fortnight - there is no excuse for not attending on time, unless they can show its an emergency
so in relation to being sacked, if you were late 100% of the time(as they were) would you be sanctioned by your employer?0 -

Oh dear, where do they find these people?
One family, 60 plus mum, son who is getting married to someone only just younger than his mum. They're trying to get married, the lady he's marrying and he are thinking about having children. She looked older than his mum. He is 'trying to become an acting star'. They're currently being done for rent arrears (the mother thought they were £2k, they're actually £5k but they went to the CAB to sort out a financial statement with no paperwork, couldn't figure out what their rent is). Then she started shouting at the judge who got a bit irritated with her. Suprise suprise, they're being evicted. But apparently the mum was also due to appear in court for benefit fraud. So that could save on rent. Oh and lets say their house wasn't clean.., there was a brief glimpse of mummified flies etc.
And I'm speaking as a carer on benefits (who does know exactly what my rent is, and pays it regardless of problems that occasionally happen). The house I live in is in better condition than I found it and I'd be embarrassed if the floors and everything else weren't shiny (in spite of the peeling buckled Laminate the LL says is fine).
I just couldn't believe what I was hearing.
None of the other people were much better. One turned up half an hour late for a Jobcentre Appt, got sanctioned and thought it was totally wrong.
I know its difficult to find work, but some of the plans were rather unrealistic.., some were doing volunteer work which was good (going the same route myself). All but one was very overweight. And smokers (in spite of health problems in one case related to the smoking).
Oh well.
I know I shouldn't really post this on here, I've seen the anti benefit recipient rants and it is upsetting for those of us who are in the situation and trying their best to get out. But there you go. I still can't believe what I've viewed lol. So here I am, according to most people, put into the same group. And worrying myself sick about how I get a job and be a carer to my children (one who's 19 and so the money for him will disappear next year, he's still got special needs, is a year behind, but somehow I've got to keep him in college. Hence why I haven't slept yet again). Somehow I don't think I'll be watching the next programme., its just too depressing.
I actually felt a bit sorry for the bloke, its clear, (unlike last weeks lot) that hes not malicious, just seems to have learning dificulties, (believing for example hell be an actor 'like danny dyer' or that his sixty plus year old toothless bird will be having kids, )
His wife and mother though? career criminals living off their imbecile boy.
Bit like Chris Chan.
I liked the ex criminal guy though, volunteering at the soup kithen - fair play0
