log cabin advice please

Hi all,
we're moving into a 2 bedroom house soon (local authority) and have 2 DD (3 and 16). We were thinking of putting a log cabin in the very large garden as a chill out space for my 16 yr old for when her mates came over.
The house is very small and we wondered whether we needed any consents from the council?
Any advice gratefully appreciated.
