Well its about 85 quid for an open return from Northampton to Gatwick Airport (hello rip off Britain)
About 3 times the cost of diesel return in my car
So is there somewhere like Crawley or Sutton I could park my car up safe for 2/3 weeks and catch the train anyone
Thanks

Hi,
I will assume you want to pay less than £85 for 3 weeks of parking? Inputting random 3 week slots on this website is showing £71 for 3 weeks worth of parking and is only 3 miles away from the airport, would that work?

You can certainly park south of Sutton, but it will be probably be 1 mile at least, to get past the parking zone. Not practical with luggage unless you then get a cab & parking will still be a gamble as obviously lots of others have the same idea.(commuters)0

national express coaches have a route which serves Northampton to Gatwick airport - that might be cheaper than the train?0

There are plenty of ways to find cheaper train tickets, such as splitting the journey and using different train companies (FCC offers some very reasonable fares between King's Cross and Gatwick). I suggest you post on the UK public transport board, giving dates and some idea of time and also indicating whether you can walk a reasonable distance or would have lots of luggage, and someone will try to help.0

Last summer, hubby parked the car in a local town, just a residential street, that was on a bus route into Gatwick.
Left the car there for 2.5 weeks. All was well when he returned. Saying that, car is a 54 plate worth about £1k. Not sure we'd do that if the car were worth more.
Can't find the details at the moment, but dead simple to find the info yourself with google maps.Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?

Found it

We looked at the routes and found a residential street to park on close by. OH just had hand luggage which made this a really easy option.Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?

Sutton is 17.5 miles away from the airport!
Dose not seam to be much in the price and the bus just takes too long anyway

There are plenty of places within a very short train/bus/taxi journey to Gatwick where it's perfectly feasible to park up on a quiet residential street/estate.
I've been doing this half a dozen times a year for nigh on 30 years without a hitch.
Same too with Heathrow.
And it has saved me thousands in extortionate airport parking charges.
Obviously I'm not going to reveal my best parking spaces but Google Street View and a train/bus timetable and a few hours on the internet will help you out.
On the moral side your road tax is just as good as the person's house you park outside.0
