Transaction did not go through

Has this ever happened to anybody? Son bought two prs of shorts for £50 in Colombia, his debit card would not got through and he tried twice & it will still no go through. He emailed me this morning as he was concerned. However when I checked his online banking it did go through. Does anybody know what I need to do? It's a flexaccount from NW. I do not know whether it's chip & pin or signature. Surely if the transaction did not go through then he did chip & pin or sign anything. He will not be back until the end of August. Thanks

He should have taken the cash from ATM rather than use the card in the shop for my experience.
My guess will be the shop just reserved the amount of the transaction, but could not go through. It might return to the account in 8 to 10 day's time.
Did your son get the receipt of the cancelled transaction?0 -
I am just waiting to hear from him. Not sure whether he got a receipt of the cancelled transaction. He is just passing by and he is not going back there again. I guess, if the transaction did go through he can dispute it on his return.Thanks0
