Credit File and Default

Hi
A default has been applied to my husbands credit file in relation to a credit card long since closed. We only found out when applying for a mortgage which we couldn't proceed with due to this default. Anyway long story short after many phone calls and lots stress later the bank have admitted today it was their mistake, the default should never have been applied and the footprint will be removed from his credit file. We want to try and go for a mortgage again and this was the only issue with both of our files so hopefully we should be okay but does anyone know how long it takes for the credit file to be updated? Do we need to keep badgering the bank to make sure it is done? They are also going to send out a letter admitting it was their fault and what action they are taking so that will help as well I'm guessing.
Thanks

Chase the bank to chase the 3 credit agencies asap and kick off at them for the hassle, once they say it's done check you £2 reports with Experian and Equifax and your free one with Noddle (Callcredit) to be 100% sure.0
