Grant Overpayment

Hello dont know where to start but I started university as a mature student with children so I applied for student finance and the grants I may be entitled to
Sent in all the paperwork they asked for sometimes 3-4 times now I am in the 3rd year of my degree, they have said that I was not entitled to any dependents grant at all and I need to pay this back, more than £6000 over the two years what I want to know is can I ask for a breakdown on how it was calculated in the first place
As far as I am aware nothing has changed at all, but when ever I ring student finance they say that it was provisionally awarded which I something I dispute, I sent in everything I was asked for and I have letters for the provisional awards and they dont match the letters which say this is how much you are going to get this year which came afterwards
What can I do as when ever I ring up student finance I feel like I am going in circles who can I go to if I am not happy with how student finance are dealing with this

Hi, I don't really have any useful advice but I will watch with interest as I am in exactly the same boat. SF are saying that I need to repay Adult Dependent's Grant of £1200 despite the fact that I have submitted every piece of evidence they asked for (several times!!).
I asked for a 'Subject Access review' which has a breakdown of how they worked it out. TBH some of the figures appear to have been plucked out of thin air. The one thing that is glaringly obvious is that they say my estimate for Working Tax Credit & Childcare income was £0.00 when I actually told them it would be £7K!! I've emailed them and am awaiting a response.
Have you made a formal complaint? This has seem to have sped things along a bit more and I now have a contact name and direct number instead of dealing with the next-to-useless main call centre. They don;t really have any powers at all it seems. Might be worth a try? call 0300 100 0601 to make a complaint.
Hope you get it sorted!0
