Opening account with Bank of Scotland - Can ID Be Provided via Halifax/Lloyds branch

I am interested in opening a current account with Bank of Scotland. After applying online I was informed that I needed to go to a BoS branch to provide ID (e.g. passport/proof of address) before this could actually be opened.
I live in England and BoS no retail branches outside Scotland - bar some private banking centres for the mega well off in London and elsewhere.
Does anyone know if you can supply account opening ID in person for BoS via a Halifax or Lloyds branch - or indeed their private banking centres - in England as they are part of the same banking group.
I presume not - the alternative being a day trip to Glasgow?

As far as I'm aware all Identification and Verification (ID+V) documents for Lloyds, Halifax and BOS get posted to the same Mail Processing Centre for account activation, just with a different 'reference' in the address (e.g. Ref: Lloyds; Ref: Halifax; Ref: BOS). TSB also post them to a MPC although not sure if it's the same one as they're piggybacking off Lloyds Banking Group's systems.
Did you put 'student' for occupation out of interest as I started a thread for the attention of the Lloyds rep on the same subject:

It might help if you amend the subject of the thread to refer specifically to Lloyds to draw the attention of the Lloyds rep that lingers on here who could speak on behalf of Lloyds whether you can take ID+V for BOS to a Lloyds branch.
I'd have thought Halifax would be a certainty as they are HBOS. But if they all get sent to the same place (which I believe they do) in theory you should be able to take it to any branch under the Lloyds Banking Group umbrella. I once took ID into Halifax and their ID+V form which they filled in had Lloyds Bank's logo on the top.0 -
I think - I'm 99% certain here - that you can provide ID verification in a Halifax branch.
You can't do it in a Lloyds branch.DEBT FREE!
Debt free by Xmas 2014: £3555.67/£4805.67 (73.99%)
Debt free by Xmas 2015: £1250/£1250 (100.00%)0 -
Thanks for the advice. I will try my local Halifax.0

I would have thought Halifax would take it - seeing as BoS accounts show up in Halifax online banking.0

Hi MARTYM8`,
I'm not sure if you've been to a branch yet, but, if you visit one of our branches, one of my colleagues can verify you for Bank of Scotland.
Thanks,
