Anyone planning to buy a Fagor domestic appliance should be aware that Fagor UK went bust in August 2014 and despite what the retailer might say there is no Warranty support if your purchase breaks down. There certainly isnt a free 5 years warranty! You will have to rely on the Sale of Goods to get your purchase repaired at the retailers expense.

We have a Fagor oven which has gone faulty, does anyone know of any repairers in the Sheffield, Rotherham, Doncaster area?0

Any domestic appliance repair company should be able to repair it for you providing they can get the parts.Depends how old it is. I usually repair my own. What is wrong with it? The most common part that has failed on my last 4 Fagor ovens has been the electric elements which are easy to do and often cost no more than £20 although the top one for the grill can be over £50.0

Thanks for the response it's a FSO-1100X which is a pyro oven, it already had an oven element under warranty before they went into liquidation, the engineer who replaced it laughably told the wife that it was probably using the pryo that caused the problem & that if we didn't use the pryo feature then there would never be another problem with the element :rotfl:
However this time the issue is different, before the fan still worked but there was no heat, this time the oven starts to get warm & then it trips all the power in the consumer unit, I'm presuming that once it gets up to a certain temperature it's creating a short to earth.0 -
I have had oven elements last less than 2 years, depends on the quality of the element, usage and I was told how often you opened & closed the door when cooking. If its the fan element they are usually easy to remove. I believe you could safely test your theory by disconnecting & removing the element from the oven attaching a multimeter to one of the centre connectors and the other to the outside of the element. Get a hot air paint stripper and heat the element all over and see if shows a short. You might be able to visually see damage to the element when you inspect it. If it shows as faulty a new one looks to be £25 from somewhere like http://www.elementman.co.uk/fagorca5c006a7.html
Also check to ensure that the fan in the centre of the element, if this model has one is spinning freely and that the blade is not catching the element or has fell off.0 -
Once again thanks, it did start tripping the electric on opening the door, 1st time was 11:50 on Christmas morning the wife was most impressed
but now it appears to be when getting up to temperature. I'll pull it out this weekend & see if there is anything obvious, I spoke to Fagor liquidators the other day & they mentioned that 4fagor.co.uk [can't post a link] bought most of the UK spare parts

Some ovens have a switch that detects when you have opened the door and switches the element off whilst it is open so could be this. Also check the oven light has not suddenly stopped working. Xmas day very bad luck !0

Let me know how you get on. I have an FSO 500x to fix over the next couple of weeks so when I actually have the back off it I might be better able to point you in direction of parts to check if its not the element.0
