Clarity Credit Management Solutions Limited

Hi,

I received an email from Clarity Credit Management Solutions Limited today, asking for payment of a debt to British Gas for my electricity supply.

On ringing British Gas since receipt of the email, I explained the following:

That I had called them a couple of weeks ago to query my final payment due (I am switching supplier and had cancelled my Direct Debit so they were unable to take the money automatically) as I had received two separate 'final bills' with differing amounts on.

It turns out that the combined total of £39.81 was what I owed so I asked how to make the payment (BACS details, etc) and the girl on the other end of the phone was going to call me back as she didn't know. She didn't call me back.

Anyway, the lady today agreed to take payment for the bill via Credit Card today, deducting the £18 charge for late payment and has given me an authorisation code that I have passed on to Clarity Credit Management Solutions advising that the debt is paid.

However, my question is how will that leave me with regard to my credit rating?

Thanks
Steve

    Could anybody advise on this?

As I have only received an email then it is probably nothing but I would like to know for sure.

    Thanks

Has a late/missed payment marker been applied to your credit files?

do you mean they waived the late payment charge?

shouldnt have recorded late payments if theyve accepted their fault and done that but their system often just applies them anyway. you need to check your credit files over the next month or sao to make sure the late payment isnt recorded.

Yes, the girl accepted my explanation as to why I hadn't paid and waived the extra £18.00 late payment charge, allowing me to just pay the original debt. Thanks

You need to complain saying that they must remove the adverse markers. Tell them that you will be taking them to the energy ombudsman and the ICO if they do not.
