Just a quickie - anyone else hate the stupid fish eye view when you're trying to have a look at a house street view??? Makes every straight road look like a !!!!!!! hairpin bend.

Yeah, these idiots providing images of the world's streets for us to look at for no charge. It was much better when we had to go to the library to get an Ordnance Survey map. I don't know how they can sleep at night.0

Jeeesus you like an argument don't you Tim (It was Rightmove/Google map rant by the way) Tim sorry I should have titled it "I hate the use of fish eye lenses in the totally otherwise marvellous google maps - really sorry if I upset any google map lovers but hopefully this may improve the lot of finicky sods like me RANT". Sorry once again but I like many others when in rant mood tend not to weigh up all the implications x0

Think about how the images are created and stitched together - I suspect it's not that the lenses are fish-eye, but an unavoidable side-effect of that.And who said (oh you Tim) that I was having a go at google - I'm having a go at the use of fish eye lenses - I love google

Google don't directly make money off the provision of streetview - they make their money through selling advertising off the back of it and their other technologies.0
