29mm pile carpet, will I notice difference between 9mm or 11mm Tredaire underlay

Hi, I have purchased an Associated Weavers, Carnival Anthracite carpet, http://www.carpetyourlife.com/en/find-your-carpet/F_CVALTA/99.

It is 31mm in total thickness and I'm looking into underlay.

I have probably decided on Tredaire 9mm or 11mm (Softwalk or Dreamwalk). Will I even notice the benefit of the thicker Dreamwalk with such a thick pile?

I think with that thickness you will notice little difference. I would go with the 9mm.

Have you got the joiner on standby to take off all your doors and plane them?


Edit:- In fact have you got the doors off to allow you to lay the carpet?

Thanks for pointing that out just in case, though the gap under the door is already a massive 40mm so I presume it will still open OK. I presume the fitter doesn't require me to move the door as he didn't mention it (just the gap) but I will double check with him.

We have had new carpet through out our house, some done under an insurance claim. The carpet is the same, however we provided our own underlay for the carpets we bought. We bought 11mm and the insurers provided 9mm. The difference can be felt! In fact the 11mm underlay is so much nicer!
