Also TV licensing do not have any right of entry. You have let them in (invite). They can not be invited in by miners or people who are not residents of that property. The only way they can get entry without you letting them in is with a court warrant and they will get one if don't let in.

WRONG they need evidence to get a court warrant and if you refuse to talk to them or let them into your house they have nothing
  • I really resent having to pay the BBC for channels and programs that I do not watch. I only watch a handful of programs so why should I have to pay for the dross that they show and for the upteen reruns.

I did make a stand one year and refused to pay. Of course I was hauled to court. My defence? Why should I pay for Mr. Birt's huge golden handshake and for that overpriced portrait of him that no one but the bootlickers will see.

I get so frustrated at this government and the system that the ordinary people get screwed by.

The day is coming soon when I'm leaving this country for good.

  • My son has just finished his first year in Halls of Residence - each student who has a television has to have a licence; which let's face it they can't afford, sometime their parent/s can't afford it. Now this next year in lodgings they only need one for the six students sharing. I think it's a disgrace ! This part of licensing should be scrapped first, how many students in the UK? it adds up to millions of pounds!

Is this just your lefie opinion or do you have proof ?

why wouldn't you be willing to pay for the BBC if it wasn't subisidised by the majority the same majority who don't want it ?

So you have a political agenda then?

I see the dross churned out by some of the commercial channels, and can see the Beeb going the same way if the licence fee is dropped.

  • It galls me to think that i am paying £135 P A to a bunch of 25000 jobsworth creeps who seem to have one aim in life that is the subversion of England
That is 25000 on licence payers input to a pension that only those who actualy work for a living could dream of.....

Agenda LOL - YOU said you wouldn't watch anything if the BBC TV Licence went so your admitting you wouldn't watch the BBC if it wasn't subsidised by millions of people who don't want it

If so many people love the mighty BBC m8 then you'd do just fine under subscription

I have and so I know the US have the same amount of adverts as the UK and the DVD's without the ads prove it. I'm sure I'd find what you like watching on television trash but the difference is people are forced to subisidise what you like while I watch FTA and subscription TV!

I don't know which US you have visited or which stations you've viewed, but most of the channels I have seen, have at least twice as many ads as C3 and C4 over here. If you find Spooks, Dr Who, Springwatch, HIGNFY, to name a few trash - well that says alot about you!

politically independent? You really don't know what your talking about do you or perhaps you know more than a 25yr veteran of the BBC

If you had bothered to read the next sentence you would have read
"I have concerns here in the direction which the BBC is currently going in, and quite frankly I think there needs to be a shake up."

I listened to the Robin Aiken's 'You Tube' broadcast - clear, intelligent well reasoned views - views which like those of Anthony Jay (referred to in my earlier message) should command respect. If these people who have both worked at the BBC are concerned about political bias, then we should all be.

However, I think you need to make a distinction between what they are saying and the views of the likes of Messrs Forsyth, Pearson and co. - who are from the far right of British politics and use extreme language and poorly thought through arguments. Put them in charge and the BBC would be a mouth piece of the anti-EU, anti-Environment, anti-tax mob. Then you would see a huge decline in audience!

I don't know which channels or countries you're thinking of, but there is no licence fee funded programming broadcast abroad without local broadcasters and/or subscribers paying for it.

Wrong again the ads are just spread out more but an hours show is around 40/45 minutes

Yes I agree those who want it pay for it simple as or are you worried about what the anti BBC people already know it would sink faster than the Titanic without us being forced to subsidise you?

And of course the BBC at present is pro all those so that suites your agenda ;)
