photo reprints

hi, you know when you go to boots for instance and ask for a reprint of a photo (ie lost the negs) do they simply just scan it? as i can do that myself but would prefer it on 'proper' photo paper not a scan and home print jobby, just doesn't quite look as good. trying to ascertain that if the reprints look as good as the orig i dont mind paying for it, what process do they use? ta

Yes they will simply scan it and then print it for you. Better to scan it for yourself and then make adjustments to optimise it using a photo editor and then either print it yourself or take it to any photo booth to be printed for a few pence

yep lol dunno why i didn't think of that (idiot!) i'll scan them myself then get them printed at boots cos their paper is better (and they have more ink!) cheers.
Does anybody else find the kodak machines print at really poor quality? i always used this whenever i had a few photos to do, then i started using the machines they have in shopping malls, pretty much the same machine but not kodak and the quality was i'd say 60% better than kodak.

another thing, i have 700 (different to the above) photos to print out on cd..i really don't want to do them online but jessops and boots have quoted me around £30-40 i simply cannot afford this and they are accumulating!!!
I would prefer them same day but only really want to pay around £15. Boots had an offer on once that cost me £17 i think for a few hundred, does anyone know where HIGH STREET has an offer on at the mo? I'm not going to use an online service.

You won't get 700 done for less than £30 I expect.
