Washing machine stuck in cycle?

Options
Hello!
I just moved home and am using the washing machine for the first time (Whirlpool AWG995). This first time was purely just to clean so no clothes in the wash, just vinegar. The machine is old, and most of the markings have rubbed out so I took my chance and guessed whatever programme and started the cycle.

It filled with water part way, and now it isn't doing anything. Just sitting there with the water, no spinning or anything. It's been like this for about 20-30 mins now.

Should I wait it out? Should I switch it off? Is there anything I can do? I really don't know what to do here since this hasn't ever happened to me before. :(

Has it washed at all, or literally just filled & stayed still?

Some synthetics programs hold the last rinse until you tell it to spin (reduces creasing) - is there a Rinse Hold light?

Failing that, is there a spin or pump out option?

When the dial on my previous machine went wrong, I didn't know where it was really pointing, but the machine lit up lights for the different stages of the program and I could tell which program/progress of program from the pattern of which lights were lit.
  • There are no lights apart from the on/off light and the door closed light. There is a rinse hold button. What does that do?

Here are pictures of the options from the washing machine:

The Rinse Hold means that the machine does the usual wash program, but, instead of doing the final spin straight away at the end of the program, it waits with the water still in there for you to tell it to continue when you're ready (it's meant to reduce creasing because the washing isn't left there in the machine, stuck to the sides of the drum for ages).

Looking at your photos, I agree it doesn't look like Rinse Hold or No Spin is selected. Can you select B-D Spin?

Do you have the instruction manual or can someone on here tell you if you post the model number?

I could select B-D spin but the markins to select the programme is mostly rubbed away. I have no idea what I put it on.

What I did was switch it off for the night, went back to it in the morning and switched it back on. It did nothing. Then I fiddled with the programme and it starting swishing. It looked like the cycle started. So I thought it was working and decided to wash my clothes. I selected another programme because the one it was already on only swished and I wanted it to spin. Now the same thing happened. I have no idea whether I selected a prewash or something. It's very odd...

The model is a Whirlpool AWG995. If anyone can tell me how to use this, it would be great. There isn't a user manual left here, and I don't want to pay to get one. It looks like it's a discontinued model, as the manufacturer site doesn't have it anymore.

Yes, I've tried that but it either comes up with service manuals or the manual is behind a paywall. There are some links to the manuals too but it says it can't find the page when I clicked on it.

I fiddled with the programme dial again, and it suddenly started it's cycle... I have a feeling it might be due to the programme setting? I just need to figure out what setting each dial turn goes to, I guess. This is all so frustrating.

If the drum is now moving that rules out a belt or motor issue, either you selected the wrong programme or the heater/thermostat is bust , it will fill with water then try to heat and won't move through the cycle until it registers it has hit the selected temperature

I used to have a washing machine where the knob would get stuck (ooh, err, missus!) and the solution was to give the knob a slight turn on when it did stop (which wasn't every time but was still a pain if you went out and expected to find the washing done when you got back..)
