poor service from a plumbing service is there anything I can do?

Options
Last week my water tank in the loft burst, I tried to get hold of my regular plumber but he was working somewhere with no mobile signal so I called an emergency plumber I found on line (they had mostly good reviews). The call was at about 3.30pm and they said someone would be with me shortly. Their website said 30-90 minute service * where possible. At 6pm no-one had come out so I chased them and was told he'd been held up on a job but was on the way. At 8pm I still had water running down my walls and no plumber. I chased again and was told he was on the way and would be with me with the hour. At 8.50pm he arrived went up to the loft said there was wet around the tank but he couldn't see the problem so all he could do was drain the tank and quote for a new one the following day. I ran the tank empty and he tied up the ballcock to stop it refilling. He took payment via credit card.
The next morning the tank was refilling so I decided to call out my regular plumber. He discovered the ballcock had been tied up with string and the knot had come undone. Needless to say I had him complete the job and replace the tank.
I called the first company to complain and was told someone would call me back. 24 hours later I had not heard from then and called again to complain. Again I was told I couldn't talk to a manager but someone would call me back. Again nothing heard from them. I rang again and was fobbed off with an offer of a £13.00 refund on £135.00 bill.
Is there anything further I can do to try and get my money back? They say that I should have called them back out if I wasn't satisfied with the job but I wanted someone reliable to stop the leak.

Leave a honest review where you saw the good reviews . you should have given them a chance to make good but I understand why you didn't . took too long to call out as an emergency tbh . could you have turned your water off to stop any major issues with leaks . ( or a family or friend ) ?
 hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world
  • I couldn't shift the stopcock on the mains supply (and didn't want to really as it would have left me no heating or water and I have three year old) and had no idea how to disable the tank. I have reviewed them where I found their ad but really resent having to pay for a job that was not done.

If you paid by credit card, you may have recourse with your credit card company.

I must get one of those card machines and hit the streets with my toolbag. It seems like easy money..
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..
