Something to protect an outside 12kg gas cylinder from the freezing weather

It has been in regular daily use.0 -
This sounds like a demand issue rather than the cylinder freezing from the outside.
If you draw hard from a cylinder it will cause the regulator to freeze due to the expansion of the gas, exactly the same as a fridge works by drawing high pressure gas and liquid to low pressure vapour through the expansion valve(the reg in this case works like an expansion valve in a fridge, freezer or a/c system) and both butane and propane are highly effective refrigerants, when co2 was a common welding gas in the 70-80s it was nessary to put heaters on the regulators.
Things like space heaters will always freeze a 47kg cylinder if put on 1 bottle with the reg turned up.
The simplest solution is to split the supply between 2 bottles and regs.
If the bottom of the cylinder is turning to frost and after a while the reg is freezing do the above and it will cure the problem, heating the cylinder will only increase the pressure and won't solve the issue.0 -
I will check with them what gas it is.
Rule of thumb
Propane..Red cylinder or green patio gas cylinders
Butane..Blue cylinder
