I am sure I read somewhere that it is not a good idea to record foreign films with subtitles on HDD recorders - can't remember why.

Is this true or am I bonkers?

As I have discovered, it is almost impossible to buy a recorder now that can record a disc on.

Yeah, you get something like disc burn with the subs, similar to screen burn on a monitor.

:-D Joking by the way, there is no reason why there should be an issue.

Bonkers! There is no reason why subtitles would cause any problems.

Thanks, that's really funny because I told my husband a couple of years ago to make sure he only records subtitled films onto a disc because he could damage the hard drive:)

I was so sure that I had read it somewhere, but apparently not - bonkers!

I don't know, my previous PVR was fine until I got it to record a load of French subtitled movies.

Afterwards, any time I asked it to record anything, it just went 'pft' and ignored me.
