Thank you emma for the interesting read- I like many others on here have also gone through many of the hardships, but when I was younger this was the norm!! I use to do a paper round, then bike 3 miles each way to school, come home do homework and household chores then walked 1/2 hour to a newsagents to work then home by 20.30. There was no time to get bored as the children do today, Any spare time was used to darn socks and tights, cut up and hem old towels to make face clothes, cut the legs off trousers and make into shorts and sew sides to middle on the bed sheets, that was always uncomfortable with a seam in the middle of the sheet where you slept ,my favourite was to unpick old jumpers wind up the wool and crochet blankets, that was because the larger the blanket the warmer you became, we had no heating and icicles formed on the insides of windows in the winter. Mum was a good cook making something out of nothing, boiling up the bones and carcasses to make stews and soup,Growing some our own vegetables and fruit, to bottle and make jams, and going round the hedge rows picking blackberries, and picking up horse poo off the road to then dig in the garden. We use to share the bath water and use washing up liquid for our hair. Clothes were either knitted, hand made, hand me downs or when I was earning my own money I could buy my own. This sounds as if I was brought up in Victorian time, but no this was the 70's. This is common way of life and bringing up for many of us on here which is why we all penny pinch and like a bargain, It is not because we are mean or got a screw loose (although im sure I have !!) It is because we value commodities and when we have a bargain/glitch we have to have as many as we can because we never know if we will ever be in the same position again to be able to afford such luxuries, we then have so many which is why we then keep the food banks full... as we have genuinely been there!! and we want to try and help those who are going through it now- but these 'hardships' are the foundation of our life and have made us who we are today and hopefully some of what we learnt can be passed on to our children.
Oops didn't realise I rambled so much, i'll get off my soap box now!!
ds3 is reading over my shoulder (go away) and just said nearly half of that is like us espeacily as they have brought me 5 sacks of house poo this morning , then went beachcombing and brought planks back that washed up from the old pier, 6 x 18 " nuts and bolts ( failed repairs to pier) 2 buoys all to be reused or sold others say we are poor and family look on us as poor relations but I think we comfortable and definatly happy0 -

Can I join you Munqui? I have my spreadsheets but have been woefully remiss in my wombling of late and my freezer is full so I really need to eat from there as I have not been able to take advantage of whoopsies with no room to freeze.
I also do not post anywhere but here as this is the only crowd who 'get' me and where I feel I occasionally might have something useful to contribute.
I am also joining you in this. I MUST get my cupboards and freezers down and also try and loose half a stone. Why did I get lots of chockies at Xmas. Think I need to give them away.0 -
Hello and hugs to all
Don't know whether to risk a biccy shop, just checked the app and none of the foxy points are showing!:( they had disappeared Instore yesterday.
Just my luck when my voucher is actually looking like I can print it!
Just did a biscuit shop at 1:30pm.
All still working, I bought 6 different ones, 20 packets in all and got 19800 points as expected.
Hope that helps0 -

If it smells okay when cooked eat it. If it smells off when cooked bin it.0 -
Thank you for all your help getting me started
I got £3.39 voucher compared against Tesco, not bad for my first attempt
I did try a bit of wombling but I think people in my local have cottoned on, there were only 2 I picked up that might have had vouchers due but they didn't
Is it helpful for me to put the APG comparison on here or only the things that were much cheaper elsewhere?0 -
