Afternoon peeps.
With the talk of frugal feb and calendar reminders I've decided I need get my asre in gear. (ok I've been thinking since new years but don't do NY resolutions - 1st Feb resolutions :rotfl: for me)
Love a good spreadsheet and have been a little envious of people posting there Jan spends
So, I have created an 'Elite Finances' spreadsheet  to keep track of everything, a grand unified theory of finance!
my resolutions so far are...
1. no more expired apg's (this doesn't happen often see point 2)
2. no buying random carp just to get a glitch / bargain / 8 items, if we don't need it.
3. no impulse buying - groceries bill should be known before shopping and apg's picked accordingly.
4. sell glitchy stuff we have accumulated that we don't use or want - and not to replace it unnecessarily.
5. eat out of cupboards, they are full so why not!
6. be a lot more proactive regarding income. (not posting details but want to become self-employed or have a stable job)
7. give the dog the walkies he deserves, and we can pop through A5da carpark at the same time so two stones and all that.
8. have a dry feb - does not mean skipping booze deals though.
9. cashback sites always checked, though I have been doing better since the Q bonus event.
I'm sure there are more to come, but this is my statement of intent to do better!
Dashing off for now, think I deserve a cuppa and a biscuit.
(btw I've never posted much on public forums before finding you like minded people, so posting this is right outside my comfort zone)
What a brilliant post munqui:T:T
I'm full of renewed energy for February too:)
I spent £76 in January but this included £33 on Nescaf! which has gone into the stash. Freezers are still fit to burst. So decided I wouldn't be going out today to buy whoopsies and I'm cooking and baking instead. My first NSD of the month:TTo do is to be. Rousseau

Good luck cheery x
I've been trying since Friday night to sort it! Just hope I can get his minecraft back after I've sorted it :beer: Happy Bargain Hunting!! :beer:0 -
Afternoon all
We are home and sorted:T:T:T
Had a quick skim read and those telly's where you put money in them are still available as my ex BIL has a TV shop and he still rents them out to a deprived area, then when they are short of cash they ring up for them to be emptied as they get so much back
Bet you are pleased to be back home bubbs:)It's turned really cold here and must say the sky looks full of:snow_grin:snow_grin:snow_grinkeeping fingers cross we don't as Nannylala really does not do snow very well.0 -
Potted meat?? Sure that's what my dad made from pigs head. I can remember outside toilet over the road and tin bath in front of the coal fire. How far we've come in less than 50 years. Think we were posh though with izal toilet roll not newspaper.
Jamie Oliver would charge a fortune for that in his restaurant it would be a confit or a terrine or something:DTo do is to be. Rousseau

Thank you emma for the interesting read- I like many others on here have also gone through many of the hardships, but when I was younger this was the norm!! I use to do a paper round, then bike 3 miles each way to school, come home do homework and household chores then walked 1/2 hour to a newsagents to work then home by 20.30. There was no time to get bored as the children do today, Any spare time was used to darn socks and tights, cut up and hem old towels to make face clothes, cut the legs off trousers and make into shorts and sew sides to middle on the bed sheets, that was always uncomfortable with a seam in the middle of the sheet where you slept ,my favourite was to unpick old jumpers wind up the wool and crochet blankets, that was because the larger the blanket the warmer you became, we had no heating and icicles formed on the insides of windows in the winter. Mum was a good cook making something out of nothing, boiling up the bones and carcasses to make stews and soup,Growing some our own vegetables and fruit, to bottle and make jams, and going round the hedge rows picking blackberries, and picking up horse poo off the road to then dig in the garden. We use to share the bath water and use washing up liquid for our hair. Clothes were either knitted, hand made, hand me downs or when I was earning my own money I could buy my own. This sounds as if I was brought up in Victorian time, but no this was the 70's. This is common way of life and bringing up for many of us on here which is why we all penny pinch and like a bargain, It is not because we are mean or got a screw loose (although im sure I have !!) It is because we value commodities and when we have a bargain/glitch we have to have as many as we can because we never know if we will ever be in the same position again to be able to afford such luxuries, we then have so many which is why we then keep the food banks full... as we have genuinely been there!! and we want to try and help those who are going through it now- but these 'hardships' are the foundation of our life and have made us who we are today and hopefully some of what we learnt can be passed on to our children.
Oops didn't realise I rambled so much, i'll get off my soap box now!!0 -

Can I join you Munqui? I have my spreadsheets but have been woefully remiss in my wombling of late and my freezer is full so I really need to eat from there as I have not been able to take advantage of whoopsies with no room to freeze.
I also do not post anywhere but here as this is the only crowd who 'get' me and where I feel I occasionally might have something useful to contribute.“Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while you could miss it.” ~ Ferris Bueller0 -
