- trolley parks give good returns, so when you are choosing a trolley, wherever you park (or arrive if by public transport), start at the trolley park furthest away, look as if you're selecting a trolley, all the while having a sneaky look to see if there's anything promising in the trolleys, and if not, shake your head as if you've decided you don't need a trolley, and move on to the next trolley park; don't be scared of pulling out a few trolleys to get at a particularly juicy-looking receipt
- the area round the shopping basket stacks is good, too, as is inside the baskets themselves
- if there's an onsite cashpoint, that's a good spot too ... often on the floor, so you can if needed employ the old 'step on receipt and bend down as if to tie shoelace' technique
- but by far the best strategy IMHO is to pick the right kind of store, even if it's one you don't normally shop at; target a store in, shall we say, a run-down area (I know because I live in one:)), because the shoppers there can't even be bothered to put their unwanted receipts in a bin, they just chuck them on the floor; my 'go-to' store has receipts in the doorway, in the baskets, just about everywhere - and no one cares about someone picking them up, i.e. me:D0 -
I wondered if Savvy and others would care to share wombling techniques? I'm not blatant enough to walk around the whole car park so I think of ways to appear like a 'normal' shopper. Trolley parks seem to be the best place to find them so I always park the car in a position whereby I have to walk past a couple of bays. After shopping, and loading the car, I'll deliberately return the trolley to a bay a little bit further away. Even doing all this, I only seem to find 1 or 2 per visit.
Has anyone got any better strategy or found an optimum time of day etc? TIA
I'm not blatant either obviously:rotfl: - though I do park my car at the back of the car park most times, and have a good walk, collecting wombles on my way. At night, I don't bother with that but park a bit nearer as, by then, the trolleys will have been pulled in to near the store anyway. On one occasion, I did have a walk round the car park (pretended I was going to put something into the clothing/recycling banks at the back) and found quite a few wombles just left on the floor (that may have been blown there into the hedge perimeter near to there) - in the dead of night anyway and no-one was around. I normally park on the car park at one side of the store, as that has all the trolleys parked up and I can then check along them whilst I'm going into/out of the store. I usually wander out to the other end whilst there - a few trolleys in several different places and small car park. Reason I don't park there is that I wouldn't be able to go out the other way back and to the main bank of trolleys as I couldn't justify my reason for being there. Likewise, I don't go onto the premises after 4pm on Sundays - or after closing on Saturday nights - as couldn't justify why I am there although I could be going to use the cashpoint I suppose (...but then to walk all the way round and go to the bank of trolleys whilst the store is closed?). I occasionally walk down and out and round the perimeter and back into the car park at the other side (this whilst the store is open usually though - this mainly because I'd be doing a special journey when the store was closed and therefore no shopping so what would be the point of that?).
I pick up trolleys occasionally too - and return them to other places. Optimum time of day - Saturdays always seem best. Though, sadly, sunshiny days are the days when more receipts appear to be left out (no good at winter!). Sunday at 3.40pm seems to be a good moment - not late enough for all trolleys to be returned and sweeping up to have been done, but early enough to catch main rush of shoppers leaving. (Or 3.20, go the large main store, pop to the slightly smaller main store then back again to large main store for 3.40.) In fact, 45 minutes after everyone has arrived is usually best point. Sadly they seem to have more of the sweepers out now, clearing up a minute before I arrive on the Saturdays (may need to be earlier in the afternoon - 1pm maybe rather than 2pm, although throughout the day on Saturday seems good). That said I've even had good ones at 8 o'clock on weekday evening - there may be only one womble around, but it only takes one, and I've had luck, with each of my single ones being quite alright recently.0 -
Evening all.
Thanks so much to the op of the morries biccie thing. I managed to get a few yesterday. Took some in to greenfinger cos she has no morries nearby. Took some to work to share too.
Feeling sad tonight. :(Its horrid to find out that two people I thought were my friends have been running me down. I feel very let down and upset.
On a happier note I'm doing quite well on SW. I got my half stone award yesterday. In 10 days time I will have not smoked for a year:D
Hope you are all well.

Huge congrats on weight loss, I got my 3kg if that makes any sense. Have good intentions for holiday but depends how good cocktails are.
DD has painted dgd room. She was so excited then burst into tears as she hadn't painted the wall the mural is going on. Granny got the curtains too long but was in the argos glitch so altering another pair for her (got 3 pairs) and post up then make large ones into a quilt cover.
Coffee any time you fancy it?
Evening all
BMF came over today and put my tv on new tripod stand. Not sure I like it now. Really lovely stand but not sure it is what I want. Also got new bedroom light up.
Paid in biscuits and we couldn't find a food bank trolly so popped to sainsbobs to put in theirs:rotfl:
Took a risk on persil and very happy with 8 boxes. If still working after vouchers come in will get kids some. I know will be appreciated.
Hope everyone is well and warm.

Good luck with spending that voucher the last voucher I had for £24. I was sent to the shoplifting room to verify my voucher.
The manager was very apologetic in the end and I was rewarded for the time I was held.0 -
Ok who wants a laugh now that I'm connected to tho outside world?
A friend of a friend of the lady who's funeral I'm going to kindly offered me a bed for the night. I remember this place from being a kid. Edge of the world where they had no mains gas and could only get BBC1 on TV....and that's if it wasn't rainin g :rotfl::rotfl:
I felt rude saying no, I'll stay in a hotel
So I arrived......There's no phone signal unless you go to the highest room in the house and balance your phone precariously on the right hand side of the outside of the window ledge :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: ( I'm tethered) I was given a sandwich when I arrived and a sherry glass full of wine.......just one  :rotfl::rotfl: At 9.30 it was made clear to me that it was bedtime
and my sherry glass would not be being re-filled  so I've been in here ever since.......finding the right hand side of the outside window ledge so I could contact the outside world
Can some please remind me in future that sometimes it ok to say NO......oh and all the keys have been removed from the inside doors  so if I wanted to get out.....I cant! , :rotfl::rotfl:

OH TS  I feel like a naughty child:o There was this awkward silence at 9.30 when they announced it was bedtime. I asked if it was ok if I stayed up and they just made shuffling noises
:o :rotfl::rotfl: OMG I could have been in a premier inn. All I need now is my phone to fall off the window ledge :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
