    Xmas Saver!
Alas my local M's is one that is due to be closed as it doesnt make any money. As a result all the staff are a little annoyed with the company so are quite happy to see someone getting free stuff. I think that a couple of them are getting some too.

Just analyzing the results of buying 21 packets of biscuits today:

    Spent 21 x 99p = £20.79

    More Points received = 21 x 500 = 10,500 (£10.50)
    Match Points received = would be 21 x 490 (10,290) but capped at 10,000 (£10) [lose 290 points (29p) because of cap]

    Total Points received = 20,500 (£20.50)

So that 21st packet only costs you 29p, and means you don't need to top-up your points to reach the magic £20 voucher for this shop, your next shop and the one after that.

In other words, if we'd been clever, we would have done it like this....

    1) Biscuit Shop 1: buy 21 packets
    2) buy carrot or something small to claim £20 vouchers
    3) Biscuit Shop 2: buy 20 packets
    4) buy carrot or something small to claim £20 vouchers
    5) Biscuit Shop 3: buy 20 packets
    6) buy carrot or something small to claim £20 vouchers

However, we still don't know the effect of buying more than 20 of the same type of biscuit over multiple shops so consider using a friend's card on 3rd shop (or possibly 2nd shop depending on your quantities)

I am also fortunate to have a staff discount card (thru family) so I get 10% off too. Means they are paying me to take them away.

Just about to do an AvM order. Savvy, if you're around (or anyone else?), looking at this on your list....

Birds Eye Steamfresh Cantonese Vegetable Rice (380g)£1.00:(:rotfl: £1.00

Does the :( mean it's not working, or just that you don't think it's a great price.

    TIA.

It means not happy that A has put its price down to £1, as means not much APG. Hopefully, however, in a way, it is safer, as if it does return N/A vs M it doesn't lose much! Then again they could pick up M at full price £1.79!:rotfl:

They shouldn't though, to be fair - it seems 'fairly safe' judging from what I see in my stores, and it should work as was on offer on Monday, but then again I never know...

NB Do not try the Fragrant Veg. as I believe that was full price in M on Monday and only just gone on offer, so may not be updated on the APG just yet. If it ever updates to £1 for M:rotfl:.

    Best of luck with it!

I don't know what the 500g Chicken is supposedly comparable to...
Thanks for the Actimel. I had them get a different one on a womble I had earlier. It was no use as regards any APG. They bought a Loaf Cake at 50p and I thought they'd have a wrong one and return vs £2 for T. It did! I thought T were going to be much more expensive, as I saw £1.97 Actimel on the receipt and immediately thought I bet T are £3.85! And they are:rotfl: - these supermarkets, they're just so predictable!:rotfl::rotfl:

On the Douwe Egberts, :o:othere is some 200g jar at £2.47 in A (oh, back in stock again, it was OOS only on Tuesday) - so not sure why you paid more (:o:osorry) for a smaller one - and, whilst the 200g was losing out quite drastically vs everywhere except Waities until this week, and annoying and ruining my wombles, it is now apparently £2.49 in M, though I have yet to find any product actually there and only found some promotional card up for the product and nothing else, which I suspect is not scannable by APG price collectors or anyone like that. Same situation in several stores! It was like that on Monday too. I've left it off my list for the reason given. Watch it compare:rotfl:! Or, watch it pick up £4.99:(:rotfl:! I am so pessimistic and discouraging sorry.

Thanks for helping :A what confuses me is I already had 3070 points from petrol so II thought I would of had enough points for 6 vouchers but the extra 4700 from the biscuits does not show any where. It just says 5 vouchers available and 3070 points, even though it clearly says I learnt 29700 points today. So confused

Tell me about it! I'm on useless 3,000 points to go until the next £5 voucher! So, whilst some of my biscuits "More" points didn't work, and I ended up paying them £3, really I've ended up paying them £5 at this stage. The next £5 will never materialise unless I spend more. I may as well have just done that £5. In fact, I think I'd feel better if I had given them a £5 note for the biscuits. Instead, with this, it feels more long term and like something that tied up that you never get your hands on.

It's not even as if I could now buy £5 of biscuits and get anything back, as you have to spend £15. Even if use my 3x £5 vouchers now to spend another £15 on now unneeded, unwanted biscuits (and then I'd have to add a little more as having to buy minimum 16 packets), I'd still end up with £15 (3x £5) and useless 2000 points over, as I see it. Otherwise, I'd have to do a useless essentials shop of £15 and for only £3 back. Or I'm having somehow to get £8 difference to get the extra £5 - quite hard off a £15 spend!

Whilst some prices in M have gone up, which I do not always dislike:D, there's absolutely nothing worth me getting in M at the moment believe me! And not as if there are any good points offers to make up the difference to £5 without me having to give them extra cash on top of the 3 vouchers. I could spend £5 on items cheapest there - not that the things I want are at their lowest at the moment, but then, if I am ever to add to my points to make the 2000 points into a fiver, I'm going to have to do a £15 shop, so, on spending that fiver, I'm going to have to use only the remaining 2 vouchers plus give them £5 real cash anyway to get that. I could get a few More point items but, at the rate of most of them, I'd be spending far more than I ever get back and taking me about 30 weeks to get 10p of points at a time:(.

Otherwise, I could spend over £300:eek: on petrol with them, over time over the course of however long that takes, in order to get just £3. I rarely get get petrol from M anyway, as they are so rarely the cheapest and, even after the points, it's a saving of about 0.8p:( per litre. I rather just buy Mr A's petrol, even if it costs a fraction more but is actually cheaper than M's pump price (without the 1p:( per litre points) as at least I would make the saving straight away. Like I said, if I had just paid them a £5 note outright, I could have just written that off and done that money but, this way, with it tied up and £2 still there, it feels worse and can't be got without giving them yet more money, even if it's buying stuff from them!

:rotfl:I see people coming out of the shop with £30, £70 or even more in shopping, who happily just shop in one go there and don't think anything of it!! But, for me, I'm not happy giving them more!

It's excellent as a business model. It's like if anyone wants to send me a £5 note and I'll send you two pound coins back and then not let you have access to the other £3 until you buy something for £15 from me!:rotfl:

Anyway, I was one to do the BM and used to give £20 and get £10 back, and then spend the £10 but give them another £10 in cash, BM back. These days, however, I'm trying to do it without more if I am really to have a low, nil spend!:rotfl:

That wasn't my rant btw. Oh...to tell you the half of how the prices were in the first store that I was checking!(:rotfl:...)
