TBW, I recently discussed this with my parents and they are keen to get theirs done, however, a rough quote from the solicitors came back as over £1000 for the 2 of them.
So I have been looking into this, and found a lot of useful info on the gov website. There are 2 POA you can do, one financial and one about health, so my parents want 2 each. These cost £110 each, so now £440. But then, I read on the gov website that if your income is under £12k you can get a 50% reduction in the cost of the POA ......then I read that if you get certain benefits you can get the POA for free, which my parents qualify for. So we went from a £1000+ quote to zero. Admittedly I will have to complete all the paperwork, and you have to ensure that you do not make any mistakes (will get sister to check everything), but I am confident that it should not be too difficult. I know it wont suit everyone, but the gov website is certainly worth a read.
Thanks for that - I will certainly look at that option . When we did our wills the solicitor did suggest POA's and around £1000 was mentioned then. We never got around to it though.ELITE 5:2

I was about to post similar - we found it is a very straightforward process to complete the forms and submit ourselves. Further details are available at: https://www.gov.uk/power-of-attorney.

I applied for POA for my mother.....did it all myself without any problem. The only cost incurred was my mothers doctor charged her £30 for her signature !!!0 -

We must have got a bargain :money:
We have nominated each other with ds as backup. Dd was not pleased but she has her hands full with 4 children one of who has significant additional needs. Ds is like me practical.0 -

simone10 great find :T hope it stays off msm
But I think your math is slightly out, the 10% is off the competitors price not the difference.
£1.79 v 90p (£1.00 -10%) = 89p back.
So potentially £1.11 for the trigger + medleys.
Hope posting that hasn't offended you as none was intended!#CHEEKY :cool:0 -
Hiya guys, how is everyone? Not had time to check up on you all for what seems years!!! Busy busy busy with rescue doggies and dog transports. BIG NEWS is that I will become 3Dogs in real life again on Saturday 31st January when I collect my latest Romanian rescue dog Noella. Pics to follow when she settles in, but that may take some time as she is a scared girl, not socialised, so I hoping that me being around most of the time, plus being with my other Rommie Berry Bear and little Millie should help her. Think I will have my hands full though, will be like having a big scared puppy in the house!!Been at hospital since 3.00pm. Mum has had chest pains and they have admitted her and are going to fit a pacemaker in the morning. They did tell us she may go downhill suddenly so be prepared. I called my sister who is in Nice at her flat at the moment and she is coming into bristol airport at 22.20. When we left hospital she was very distressed as the drugs were affecting her. Hoping she will be better in the morning and that the op is successfull
I picked the right time to check in, with a new thread (thanks rhosynbach) and noticed your post rose, hope your Mum is OK, plus logie, hope your OH can get his tonsils removed as it is no fun having that coming back again and again. Sorry if I have missed anything with anyone else, but ((hugs)) to anyone who needs it
